This is a joke, right?

That wasn't Air Force One. It was a photo opp setup by the military and approved by the FAA. Nothing to do with Obama, besides it happening on his watch.

What's your source? I have read several, and all stated that it was one of the planes used as Air Force One. They all stated that it was a photo op for Air Force One.

"The flyover -- apparently ordered by the White House Office of Military Affairs so it would have souvenir photos of Air Force One with the Statue of Liberty in the background -- had President Obama seeing red. He ordered a probe and apologized." http://wcbstv.com/topstories/air.force.one.2.996457.html

Nothing to do with Obama? "Louis Caldera, a former Secretary of the Army who runs the White House Military Office, took the blame." http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124084127590859371.html

Not sure who acted that way. The heading provided by FFR says "Team Obama." And Team Obama definitely goofed up.

Surprising that someone with a 200 I.Q. would not be better capable of critical thinking. And that he would misspell "Republican." And that he would use a singular possessive form when he intended to express plurality.

This was a photo mission using one of a couple planes that is used as Air Force One when the President is on board. Obama wasn't on the plane, didn't approve if it, and didn't know of it till after. The FAA was told and notified the Mayor's office ahead of time but it didn't get relayed to the Mayor. There was a "need to know only" order attached to the mission by the White House/Military clutz that ordered it, thus no media knowledge or announcement as with past flights. The point is Boneheads not thinking originated the idea and organized it and other Boneheads didn't communicate it to their appropiate people. Don't hire Boneheads! Fire them!

Agree. But I would add that the people you hire reflect on your judgement as an employer. Doesn't really inspire confidence in the decision making of those in power.

Thats funny because on Yahoo News via the AP reported that the mission was approved by Obama prior to the flight and he took full responsibility.

White House Apologizes for Air Force Flyover

Sounds like the tune has changed today, they are in full damage control. Now Obama was furious when he heard about the mission, I guess that is plausible deniability.

There is another possibility that some may be over looking.

1. This could have been a rouge Air Force pilot making some sort of political statement about the safety of the nation under Obama.

2. Did the A.F. really get "prior clearance" from the FAA to fly that low and when did they receive it?

3. How about a "flight plan?"

4. Some say there were three fighters used as chase planes or camera planes.

Just questions because of the nature of all the publicity, denials and all the other weird stuff that eminates when the government starts to validate incidents like this.

no, i am not a conspiracy nut.....but.....IMHO, these are just unanswered questions away from the obvious.

Actually, it sounds like Obama didn't know a thing about it, but since it occurred under his watch and under the auspices of people in his control, so he's taken a buck stops here attitude. Thats known as accountability.

That said...there really is now defense for whoever planned this...this was incredibly stupid.

I'm not sure what's worse...that Obama did know about this or that he did not know about this and as he said learned about it at the same time as the rest of us. :o

Someone decides to take one of the two ultra-sophisticated fying command centers for the President of the United States for a joy ride up the east coast to buzz lower Manhattan with F-16 chase planes and the President and Commander-in-Chief doesn't know where his plane is? What were the F-16s for anyway? That's a single-seater. We're not using our best trained pilots and $15 Million fighter planes as glorified cameras, are we? There were a lot of scared and pissed off people up here and justifiably so. Something doesn't add up.

Man, now you've taken to the Left's spin/damage control. If you truely believe that then how do you explain this?

Thats funny because on Yahoo News via the AP reported that the mission was approved by Obama prior to the flight and he took full responsibility.

You don't just wheel out Air Force One and take it for a spin while escorted by a fighter jet without approval from the top. To top that, nobody from this administration thought to place a call to New York to let them know this would be taking place. I'm getting dizzy from all of the spinning.

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!

This isn't that big of a deal, and it wouldn't be front page news still had Obama just said "My Bad!" and sent Bloomberg an apology. But this spin is just laughable.

...if you don't think the President or at least someone a step away from him (meaning employed directly by him) doesn't know the status of BOTH of those 747's at a second's notice then you are a fool. Sorry. This mission was ordered by the White House, and the White House is ultimately responsible for this amature hour f-up.
