Since I'd rather watch a race between paint drying and grass growing than listen to the antics of Jerry Jones and Dirk Nowinskyvonichnia on the radio (read not from Texas, don't care about the teams here), I almost never tune into sports radio here. What makes the ticket so special? Honest question. I've listened to maybe 15 minutes of sports radio in 5 years so I really don't know.

The Ticket is by no means just sport's radio...in fact the bulk of the sport segments, especially Cowboy related, I usually ignore and flip on Pandora or iTunes for a bit. It's the personalities that make the Ticket go...and the repore they have established with a very large and loyal fan base over the past 15 years. The "radio gold" comes from segments like the "emergency break of the week", "entertainment news", "gay or not gay" and anything Gordo driven.

If you want to get a true representation of why so many people love and identify with the Ticket, tune in at 3:55 this afternoon for "Why Today Doesn't Suck."

The Ticket is fine when it sticks to sports. All that other "garbage" they talk which makes it really not so much a sports station but a talk radio station turns me away. I do listen to the Ticket...mainly because of George and his support for UNT...but all that stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with sports is simply not for me. When it starts I change the station to a competitor.

Will the Ticket stay #1 in the market? Probably so, but it is beginning to be a bit of a stretch to call it a pure sports talk station...it is not!

Like CBL said, its really the personalities that keep me coming back. I'm a Houston homer and don't even like the Dallas teams (except the Stars). In fact, I mute my computer speakers half the time they are actually talking sports unless it is a general sports discussion (drafts, college sports, etc.). Ranch reports drove me nuts during football season cause I hate the Cowboys. But its all around very entertaining radio, IMO. I agree its not for everyone, though. I'd recommend trying it out for a couple of weeks on your way to and from work.

Oh, and "Why Today Doesn't Suck" starts at 2:55 CT. CBL's on ET.

And I also am disappointed their media player is on the friz...I've been in Montana all week for business and needed my fix :(
