One of the quotes under the "Comments" section.

"The Environmental Protection Agency concluded Friday that greenhouse gases linked to climate change 'endanger public health and welfare'"

Makes perfect sense. Start by outlawing the biggest producers -- VOLCANOES.

The EPA is all about money and control and could care less about the welfare of people.

It is pure arrogance. Politicians, regulators, and enviro-whackos have concluded that some arbitrary average global temperature is the ideal for this planet, with no evidence to support their claims. The last great warming period was the Medieval Optimum. During this time crops flourished, populations increased, cities were built, and the Renaissance began. Before that, the Post-Glacial Optimum (7000-5000 BC) ushered in the beginning of human history. Who is to say a warmer planet is not better?

One would take note that man made greenhouse gases were not around, and therefore could not have possibly caused global warming. But scientists do believe that increased solar activity was exceptionally high during these periods. Imagine that... the SUN may have caused global warming? Absurd, I know but there may be other scientific evidence to prove this as astronomers have observed higher average planetary temperatures on every planet in the solar system. Surely, my SUV is not causing global warming on Mars. And what about the fact that we have seen a cooling trend since 1998? Hey, never let the facts get in the way of regulation.

Whether or not cars lead to global warming is somewhat irrelevant. They do cause pollution. And inefficient cars like SUVs lead to increased demand. You want to be free from foreign oil? Start by raising gas mileage standards.

A great start would be to take ethanol out of car gas, we would use less oil and get better gas mileage by 15% or more.

Oh, I agree. I like clean air, who doesn't? But it shouldn't come at the costs being proposed.

Incidentally, there was a UK news story about energy needs of emerging countries in Africa. The western world has decided that we will not help them build oil and coal power plants because it would cause too much pollution. They must use clean fuels like solar and wind. The problem with that is foriegn aid can only go so far and wind/solar is still far too expensive even for the west. They showed a clinic in an african village run on solar panels, and the doctor is forced to choose between light for examining patients or refrigeration for medicines.

Our well-meaning but ill-informed policies are keeping Africa and other emerging countries down.

Yeah, I would like for us to be. However that doesn't seem to be on the table for our future, especially now that we are five-slapping-finger-snapping with the likes of Hugo Chavez and his Socialist regime.

This has nothing to do with clean air...it has everything to do with CONTROL and taxation! The democrats want to control everything and make everyone dependent upon the government for their well being. Why...surprise, government dependees seem to vote for big government politicians. This is all about control folks, just like the democrat idea regaring universal health care coverage.

Democrats..."the party of greed, cloked in the language of love"! D. Armey (it's as close to the quote as I recall, but it is close enough and it is so very true!)

Yes please. Take that money out and aim it at algae-based gasoline. It's carbon neutral, so there's not much of a pollution element to it. Ethanol is just bad for engines all around.
