Just in case you were not aware of it...there is a growing event taking place nation-wide on April 15th in protest of the rising taxes we will all be experiencing under the current administration. If you are in the Denton area...come join in on April 15th from 6:00 to 7:30PM on the Denton County Courthouse Square. Good speakers, good info. You can find more information on the Tax Day Tea Party movement across the country at www.ipi.org or at www.taxdayteaparty.com.

Come down to the Denton Square on the 15th for the protest rally...should be fun and educational!

Good to see Denton is not pulling a Burleson and trying to quell free speech.

Let us know how this turns out.

I find it interesting and awesome that the republican, or conservative side of the political ticket is organizing and creating a public outcry for the first time I can remember. I am used to hearing the Liberals rally, and demonstrate and make a big deal out of the injustices that they find in a particular administration or government. For the first time I can remember, and I am sure that someone will tell me where I am wrong, the conservatives are making their presence felt. Good Job!!!

I will be at the Dallas Tea Party....

Between me and my wife we gave the government about $20,000 in taxes last year. We both had more taken out last year because for some reason we had to pay in $6,000 the year before. So after having 25K taken out ,had more taken out than the year before and a brand new baby to claim this year I thought we were golden. We got back $100 !!! Thanks US government. I'm glad I could contribute to the bonuses for the employees of the comapnies that " we the people " now own.

but in the end, our taxes must go up to pay for this trillion $$$ ++++ debt. No other way around it.

No problem...when that day comes, I'll take my share of the lumps.

FWIW, I've been worried about the national debt since Clinton was prez. Guess I became numb to the worry cause no one else has seemed to care the last 10 years.

And I guess that is the point of the tea parties. We will all take our share of the lumps, but I don't think that the lumps we will be taking are necessary, I do not want my government able to dictate the business decisions of private industry, nor do I believe that the founders thought that the federal government should wield that power. The result of all this additional spending for projects, bailouts, redistribution etc. is higher taxes to pay for programs that are not needed, wanted by a large portion of this country, nor mandated by the constitution. I do not believe that the founding documents have ever given the government the power to essentially fire the CEO of a company, Wagoner with GM.

I, like most conservative leaning people, were not happy with the spending habits of George W Bush and many spoke out against them for quite some time. What Mr. Obama is doing with his spending in his first 100 days is unprecedented and leads me to believe that there is much more to come! That makes me nervous and I feel that it is about time that the conservatives finally use our right to peacefully assemble to make our concerns heard.

When European socialist nations like France and Britain warn us we are going to far down the road of government control and spending, it would be prudent for the President and the American people to listen.

Agree. What FDR & LBJ started B.Hussain Obama and this congress is going to finish. There was a book written in 1949 by John T. Flynn called, The Road Ahead. Flynn spoke of the incramentalism of the Fabians, in England, at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. The Brits would raise prices on certain commodities to find out how far they could raise these prices before the people would revolt then lower them to accomodate the resulting pressure. They experimented with heating oils, food, clothing etc.. Much the same way how we revolted at four dollar a gallon gasoline.

They were able to create crisis in the work force to increase benefits resulting in higher taxes for every welfare program that England enjoys today. Naturally, they had to keep on raising these taxes for the increase immigration from her empire. Much the same way that we must raise our taxes to accomodate increased immigration from our southern border.

Naturally, the driving force of Fabianism is socialism. With our government, supported by our liberal press, intent on a "global economy" it does not take a first semester freshman to decifer where we are heading as a nation. We only need a couple more nails in our coffin.

Some people say that the current administration may only be here for one term based upon the current policies. So what, I say. What "if" the Republicans take back the presidency and both houses of Congress. Did the Republicans undo anything socialistic that the Democrats ever put in place from FDR or LBJ?? Heck "NO."

I hate to say this but we may be faced with the immediate naturalizaion of every illegal in the US to help up pay taxes. They are already taking advantage of all of the counties benefits.....state assistance, welfare, hospital ect.......ect........just look at California and to a lesser degree Texas. Since the American population has been fed "political correctness" for the last twenty years or so it would be too impolite of us to expect another deportation round up similar to what Prez Ike accomplished in the 50's (Operation Wetback)....that was the actual name of his program for all interested and not something I made up. Look it up on google.

that is about all I have to say for now.

remember: our wallets are the government's ATM machine.

Might as well. If they're already a burden, they might as well pay their fair share, but toss in some language classes and basics about how to integrate into society. I really don't even think a mass deportation would be possible, PC or not. There'd be a ton of money spent on sending people home, and then more money spent to keep them out.

Most of the spending is for social security and medicare, and those aren't going away anytime soon. Taxes will have to be raised if we ever want to debt to dwindle.

Folks like Coffee and Tea will never get it...if you want to increase tax revenues you LOWER TAXES! Lower taxes work to create jobs and investment in research that leads to more jobs...more jobs equal more folks paying taxes and buying "stuff"...ie: more tax revenue.

BTW...the recent raise in the tax on tobacco by the Obama Administration is just one more broken promise from this administration. Anyone recall his promise that, what? 95% of the people will see NO increase in their taxes and would actually see a decrease? Hmmmmmm...a rise in the tax on tobacco will indeed be a raise in taxes for a lot of the folks who believed this guy's campaign promise of no new taxes for the majority of the citizens...and, just which folks do you think this little tax play will hurt the most...those that can least afford to pay more taxes...the poor and working poor of this nation. Nice job thiere Mr. O looking for ways to help those that can least afford to pay taxes (or so you said anyway).

Slashing all those military equipment plans and creating a lot more layoffs at defense contractor firms is a great way to get folks back to work too. Nice job! I think it will be interesting to see how many of the cuts Gates announced yesterday will actually come to pass. I would imagine that there will be lots of "crossing the aisle" on this one when dems and republicans alike start hearing from the "home folks" who will be losing jobs and revenue in the home districts.

Oh, hey, the laid off defense industry workers can just join AmericaCorps...or is that AmeikaCorps?

Anyone going to attend the Denton County Tax day Tea Party event? My bride and I will be there...anyone else?

Nevermind that we had two deep tax cuts under Bush and our deficeit shot up exponentially.

If we are all going to pay these astronomically high taxes, why did my paycheck just increase due to lower taxes? Just curious how I am paying higher taxes by paying less.

Because we will have to pay higher taxes in the future to pay off the deficit...even though the way to increase tax revenue is to lower taxes.

Wait...what?

So what you are telling me is that we are going to protest is an action that we "think" "may" "happen" in the "future," but hasn't yet. And we are going to protest the current administration for something that they may never actually do. And this thing that they may or may not do is actually against what we feel should actually happen to fix the problem that may or not be a problem when the solution that needs to happen is necessary. Or have I just confused the issue?

that trillion $$ deficit has to be paid off somehow. If they don't raise taxes, how would you suppose they would raise revenues?
