OK, I'll ask the question...who is paying for all the change of clothes Michelle Obama is wearing these days at all the events she seems to be attending? And, glad to see the taxpayers had to spend the extra bucks to send her back to DC before the Prez ended his international tour. Couldn't they have flown home together on Air Force One?

Seems that Palin was beat up pretty bad about her wardrobe...I wonder whio is covering the cost for all of Mrs Obama's change of clothes these days? I really don't know. Does the first lady get a clothing allowance? If so, it better be a big one on the taxpayer's dime for all the designer gowns/dresses she is wearing. Pretty nice clothes she had on digging in that White House garden too. Interesting that the press is not jumping on her like they did Palin for this stuff. Not saying it's bad...just wondering about the difference. I realize this is no biggie at all...neither were the dresses Palin wore by the way...in the scheme of things, but I think it just points out how the press swoons over these two as if they were the "second coming" as a couple. The Today show this weekend even went on and on how Michelle is so much more that Jackie K was...smarter, stronger personality, etc., etc. BTWE...my bride likes the Today show...me, not so much.

Easy. I'm sure it's all comp'd by the manufacturers. After all, wouldn't you want a young, attractive First Lady wearing your designs? Best free advertising EVER, especially with the pop culture Icon that is Pres. Obama.

Don't forget, Nancy Reagan was critized for the same thing.

Absolutely....I have no problem with that if it is true...BUT, why all the crap going Palin's way? The party and its supporters paid for her's...why the diffrerent press coverage? Would like to see the press at least mention they are comp'd if they are. Like I said...I have no problem with that. Smart on the manufacturer's part...hopefully all US designers and manufacturers. That's free enterprise, and it isn't on the backs of the taxpayer. But, let's see the facts. What you and I might think is one thing...facts, well...let's see! OK, oops...big mistake there on my part thinking the press could write facts these days and not opinion pieces when it comes to politics. Sorry...Ha!

Then address the inconsistency in the press coverage, not the fact that she is wearing the clothing.

And see how far that gets you. We all know what the press is, which is why they are slowly but surely dying (at least the traditional press).

I thought I did that in my original post. Sorry.

The Obama's are wealthy beyond casual means. I am certain she can afford her own wardrobe. Whereas Palin is not wealthy and was using fundraised monies for her make over, and people wondered where she got the dime. Doesn't seem too out of line.

This is a new low. The wardrobe political chip-on-shoulder. ;)

Michelle Obama actually is the first lady, thereby representing Americans when she appears anywhere. Palin was a candidate of the Republican party who didn't win.

With that said, and if we really want to discuss Palin, let's examine why her daughter's "baby daddy" now states that he was welcomed to live in the Palin household while she was running for VP (you know, since he had knocked up her daughter and she believes in "family")...yet the day she and McCain lost he was given the boot. Or how he is allowed to visit his son at the Palin residence but seldom if ever allowed to leave with the child. Or how his "promised" marriage to Palin's daughter was no longer necessary post election. You know, if we're really interested in discussing Palin and the things she could/should be called on the carpet for.

WHO THE &*$# CARES!?!?!?

I REALLY don't like the President's Policies and what he is doing to this country, but the First Lady's wardrobe is just not something I really care about.

To the people who agree with me politically... We have enough to attack this administration on that is legitimate and with substance. Let's leave the petty crap in People magazine where it belongs.

Talk about late to a party. I did think this thread was already dead...and most folks (including the last poster) missed the point entirely...point was, and I will definitely leave it with this, the difference attention the press gave the wardrobe's of Palin vs Obama. The warddrobe themselves were, are and will continue to be nothing of significance.

Sorry, I probably should have framed it a bit better in the first place...but, didn't I already say and admit to that? Oh, well...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

No, I understand what you were trying to say/do here with this thread... ...but her wardrobe has been discussed more in the mainstream media more in the past 2 weeks than what the President is doing. I'm just sick of it. Yea, she's a rock-star, whoop-de-doo!!!

...you're not going to win the "double standard in the press" argument against a die hard lib. I'd just rather stick to the issues and the President and leave Michelle out of it - including her clothes.

--You did not get to read this type of "stuff" when Eleanor Roosevelt was first Lady.... or even Barbara Bush.... or Mamie Eisenhower. The wardrobe winner has to be Jackie Kennedy... You would have thought she was a runway model by the amount of discussion going on.

--Palin only had wilderness jeans, camouflage clothing, and Parkas prior to being nominated...
