Obama Bows To King Of Saudia Arabia

During greetings prior to a group photo op at the recent G20 summit, President Obama bowed before the King of Saudia Arabia showing great deference to the despot of one of the world's most oppressive monarchies and home of many of 9/11 terrorists. IMHO, the President should never bow to ANY other head of state. What a discrace for a sitting president of the United States of America. I guess he is just doing what comes naturally or instinctually to him.

1.) If you're Catholic, you're okay with Bush bowing to him. If you're skeptical about organized religion in general, then you're neutral about this photo at best, and "hey now, separation of church/state" at worst.

2.) I'm optimistic about the stimulus package and I also think the whole thing is rather pricey and needs to be checked over again.

I get it. It's not his fault, he INHERITED the bow from the Bush regime. That's getting to be one tired excuse. First of all it is incredibly symbolic. He broke well estabilished protocol with that bow. According to the accounts I've read, no one else in the room was bowing before the King of Saudia Arabia, just our little Barak. He stepped right up and genuflected in front of the effing King of Saudia Arabia. This was on the biggest stage on the planet. He had to know the world was watching. What sort of signal did that send? Strength? Weakness? Obedience? Submission?

Well, since *you* went there, he certaintly isn't helping his case much. He accidently refers to "my Muslim faith" in a TV interview with George Stephanopoulos. George has to correct him. His first television interview as President was to the Al-Arabiya Arab TV Network. He is the first U.S. President to unilaterally refer to Iran as The Islamic Republic of Iran (something Iran has long wanted to be recognized as). Now, for all the world to see, he bows before the King of Saudia Arabia. Correct me if I'm wrong, but out of all the other world leaders he just met, did he bow to anyone else? Maybe it's true that old habits die hard.

Who said anything about a conspiracy? I do like a good conspiracy theory, but I don't think there is anything conspiratorial here. These are just facts. Facts available for all to see. Make of them what you want.

I think there is more to worry about with obama, but this does set a cause for concern. Its one thing to bow your head out of respect, but to fully bend over, thats a bit much.

For me, I do not think the President of the US should bow to any other world political leader. Just like the US flag should NEVER be flown lower than any other national flag...NEVER! The guy is trying way too hard to show the world that he has brought "change" to the US. Way too hard. And, in doing so is showing himself to be both naive and weak as a president. I do not believe the president needs to be "superior" to other world leaders, but NEVER subserviant as a bow implies in this case. Amazing what this president will do to try to be "liked" and popular at home and abroad. Sort of like the parents who want to be their child's friend. Seldom works out very well when the time for discipline, teaching and leadership comes up in the relationship.

Just because the national and international press swoon every time you appear does not make you an effective world leader. That remains very much in doubt at this point with this president...we'll see where it leads. I wish him the greatest of successes, but, the jury is definitely out so far!

I'm not deflecting anything. The very fact that Republicans had no shot at the white house in 2008 meant they had to deflect from the issues, which is exactly what the 'secret Muslim' memo was. You have first hand experience that I do not. I've never been inside a Mosque nor have I had a conversation with an Iman, so I'm curious about a few things.

Inside the Mosque, where were the women situated in relation to the men? What were they wearing? Were the other followers you conversed with men, women or both?

Are gays and lesbians welcome inside the Mosque?

What was the Imam's position on radical Islamic terrorists activities? Did he (or does he now) publically condem the 9/11 attacks? Does he disagree with the goals of Islamic fundamentalists or just their methods? Did you happen to discuss his positon on the role of Shari’ah law and if it has a place in the U.S. legal justice system?
