It will be interesting to see the next move...Mr. Obama stated that such actions have consequences. So, we'll see about that in the next few days. I'm thinking the "consequences" he is thinking about is asking the North Koreans to sit down and "talk about it".

What do you suggest? That we go to war?

We should strike their nuclear facilities and all missile assembly plants.

North Korea is a sad situation. Those people have been brainwashed to believe they live in paradise, and their Dear Leader is a madman.

NOPE...more of a real hard economic embargo...no aid of any kind what so ever. NONE, and we try to get the Chinese to play along. Hugo Sanchez and Venezuela can try to send all the aid...maybe Cuba too, but the "big boys and girls" should play economic hardball with aid and finances.

But, I am sure Mr. Obama's idea of how to be tough on them will be to not let them have any sugar with the tea they serve when they sit down and talk about it. Those North Koreans are so very true to their word you can trust them. NOT! We'll see. They are still reported to be years away from being able to actually deliver a nuke.

I think a very sternly worded letter is probably on its way  or maybe just a text message. That's about all we'll get. Hey, I did say "very."

I read on Yahoo New Obama plans on combating the issue by dismantling all US Nuclear weapons. (Not Kidding)

I'm okay with tossing out nukes. We've got enough conventional firepower to turn NK into one big sheet of glass or to nail each and every government center in one fell swoop. The Cold War is over, and the old mutually assured destruction policy doesn't much work against terrorist organizations who don't have specific, nationalism-based ties to a particular nation, and often operate out of nations that aren't their nation of origin.

boycot all the toys and cars we currently buy from north korea.

North Korea doesn't have much for us to import. Plus, we've tariffed the crap out of anything of value that the NK's could send to us, so I'm kinda like, "wait what?" on your statement.

I am NOT OK with tossing our nukes until every single ounce of weapons grade plutonium is accounted for and hurled into the sun and every heavy water reactor is dismantled.

And don't think that just because terrorists are not aligned with governments that we won't level any nation we even suspected of giving aid to them. Remember that after 9/11 there was serious debate of a nuclear strike on Afghanistan.

Kim Jong Il is crazy, but he ain't stupid. Launching a missile is just North Korea's way of signaling to the South and the US that they're running low on Ramen noodles again. I'm not kidding. This happened several times while I was living in Korea. The North would rattle their saber a bit, the US and South Korea would literally send a ship stocked with ramen noodles up north, and the ordeal would end. As long as there are US troops still stationed in South Korea, Kim ain't startin' no war. We withdraw troops, and the North would overtake Seoul in a matter of hours. The ROK military isn't exactly what I would call formidable.

I'm curious if that satellite photo is legit. I can totally see the south looking like that from a satellite, but I would expect to at least see some light coming out of Pyong Yang in the north.

It's been around for a few years now, and confirmed to be true. I read somewhere that most electricity is turned off at 10pm. Here is one before "Lights Out"

That makes more sense. I did find some street level photos of Pyongyang at night taken from hotel windows and the city was pretty dark. I wasn't aware of the 10PM thing, but I can believe it.

As for South Korea, I often wondered how a country that produces no energy of its own can maintain the volume of lights that it does. Certain places in Seoul have enough neon to make Vegas look like a podunk Iowa corn field.
