Update On Athletic Fee Bill

if this bill dies, I can guarantee you there will be current followers of UNT sports that will never step foot back on campus. Can't speak for others but I've been attending fewer and fewer football games over the years because I can't f'n stand fouts. Personally I'd much rather drive to TCU and watch some football in a great venue.

With all due respect, this is an attitude I just don't understand. To me, if you are truely a fan of North Texas, then you would watch them play anywhere. Understand that if, this is a big if, the bill dies, this is not the fault of the athletic department but with the folks running our state government in Austin.

Now I love TCU's stadium, great views, close to the field, etc...I've only set foot in Amon Carter when TCU plays NT. BTW, outside of being close to the field, Amon Carter's amenities are about the same as Fouts.

I am a true NT fan however I am active in my church, I can spend time and money there. I have kids that play basketball and soccer, I can spend time and money there. I have a job, I can and do spend a lot of time there. I like other various activities that take my time and money. Why limit myself to just NT, especially if they don't provide a good product?

Have you been in the football complex at TCU?? Its a night day difference between the two programs as far as the entire football complex, imo.

This information is very disconcerting. Factor in that Lee Jackson has SMU ties and has been AWOL when it comes to UNT Athletics and Dr. B ain't no Dr. Pohl and that she seems more concerned about UNT teaching classes in India then bulilding a stadium in Denton and we have a receipe for conspiracy!

Least not forget that SMU not only played a major part in keeping UNT out of the old Southwest Conference but did likewise just recently when they eagerly campaigned against UNT being allowed entry into CUSA despite the commissioner's support of UNT being admitted. Does anyone honestly believe that SMU is not concerned about the effect a first class stadium in Denton will have on the perception of UNT and how that might affect SMU? And lets not ignor the fact that there are members from Baylor and TT. They could be hurt as well if UNT builds a state of the art facility in Denton.

Listen, the UNT Law school should have already been up and running.

Don't be surprised if somehow both of these bills get ignored because of the state of the economy and the 2,000 plus bills on the table in

Austin. Perfect cover for those who secretly want to see UNT fail.

Stop whining and moaning and buying into these nonsense conspiracy theories. And they are just nonsense, no matter how many people are going to dredge up ancient history proving that the universe is against UNT. SMU blackballing us back in the Dark Ages and some snide comment somebody made 35 years ago and Hurley hated athletics and UT rules everything and Lee Jackson's SMU ties (oh, please) and on and on. Don't you ever get tired of singing the same sad song over and over, or is it some sort of twisted rationalization that explains our lack of happiness?

Instead, write a very respectful and upbeat and optimistic letter (mail is better than email -- it shows that you took more time and trouble) to your state senator, state rep, and the committee members. Refer to the bill by number. Ask them to support it and say it's important to you and many others. For God's sake, please spell his/her name correctly.

I assure you, legislators read their mail. They don't read GMG. At least, I pray they don't, given the fevered persecution fantasies that motivate some folks.
