As I watch a nationally televised game on ESPN (the main channel, not the duece) with Brent Musburger as the lead play by play guy, I wonder if it doesn't pay more (in publicity and exposure, not dollars) to be the 64th or 65th seed in the tourney as opposed to being a 13-16 seed. You are the only game being televised in the NCAA tournament tonight, you have a great chance to advance to the next round and get to claim a tournament victory, and you have a chance to send recruits a video of Brent Musburger announcing an exciting play for your team.

It's hard to say. Most people don't watch the 64/65 game and neither team is really listed on people's brackets. On the other hand you get a primetime ESPN game.

I think it is a tossup. You are right that most people don't pay any attention to it, but as UNT90 stated, you are the only game going on. I still would rather take my chances as a 13, 14, or even a 15th seed then have to play in that game, then turn around in 3 days and play the top ranked team of the tourney.

This game's highlights were on Dale Hanson's sportscast tonight. Hummmmmmmmm. Two schools not even close to this area.

And were on before the Rangers spring game highlights.

And was on right after a commercial for UNT!!! Haven't seen a television commercial for the school before!!!

The Morehead Coach, Donnie Tyndall (at MT 3 years ago as Kermit's top assistant) was actually quoted aa saying he wanted the "play-in" game for recruting purposes. It was a win/win for sure.

I think more may watch it than the 16-1 game though.

Maybe if the 16-1 was a blowout. But this year we had acouple of 16's that actually put up decent fights(one for a little over a half and the other for the full game). The other 2 were true beatdowns tho, so yes I doubt many folks watched those games.

Yes, but I saw no highlights of any 16 v 1 games on any local sports cast.

I think I'd rather have folks focused only on my program for one day if I were a small program. Just sayin...

Of course, then you are assure of a blow out in the next round.

They did have highlights of the Pitt first round game on the local sports here, because it was such a dogfight. *shrug*

Then again, I think they cover college ball alot more here period. maybe it's because LA is the home to the program with the most NCAA titles?
