Unt Is Getting Good Deal For Stadium Cost

We may cough at increasing estimates for the new UNT football stadium, but compared to similar construction, it still appears a very good price for a complete 30-35K seat stadium with suites and clubs. I believe UT spent over $100mil for their endzone expansion finished last season, only added about 20,000 seats plus rooms below.

Allen ISD

$119.4M bond plan

to go before voters

Allen school board members on Monday unanimously approved placing a $119.4 million bond proposal on the May ballot.

The package would pay for construction of three buildings, including an expansion at Allen High School. In November, Allen voters approved a $219 million bond issue – the district's largest to date.

The centerpiece of the latest bond proposal is a $59.6 million, 18,000-seat stadium. Also included is a $23.3 million, 1,500-seat auditorium that would be built at the high school. The final $36.5 million would pay for a building that would house the maintenance, transportation and student nutrition departments.

If the November proposal passes, the owner of a $200,000 home, roughly the district average, would pay $40 more in school property taxes.

I still resent using taxpayer's money to build these palaces for HS football. $60 mil for an 18,000 capacity stadium. Typical government "overbuild".

Allen is doing all it can to stay a one-high-school town for as long as possible. They have about 400 in their marching band alone.
