This is our third straight 20 win season. Great accomplishment by JJ, the staff, and the players. Building a winning tradition at a school that doesn't have much of one is tough, but JJ has started to do it. He gets alot of criticism from us at times, but I really do think we're lucky to have him here. To think back to where we were under Trilli, and then see us now --- it's really remarkable.

I remember not to long ago when we had season tickets in what is now the Pit Crew section. I always checked the box score the next morning after a game in the DMNS and I remember being disappointed in seeing attendance at 502. Heck, no one was there. Every game I would look around and wonder where are the fans, the students. I remember the attendance working its way up to around the 800's. Then one night we hit 1,100 wow!! It slowly kept going up from there. We may have a ways to go but my gosh we averaged 3,000 this year.

Yeah, when Iwas in school in the late 90's and very early '00's we might have averaged 1000 fans a season. Actually Trilli's first year we might have averaged more, because he was quite a salesman and had many of convinced we were going places. Last year we averaged over 3K but that OSU game helped alot. This year we averaged over 3K with no "big name" school on the schedule. That's real progress.

---In the mid 60's ..the MVC days... the Snake Pit was always filled on week days (not so on weekends...so many student would go to Dallas) . A lot it had to do with who was coming to town, Louisville, Drake, Bradley, Wichita, Cincinnati etc. and Memphis after I graduated. We had to show up for most of the freshman game in order get in (those no longer exist) . It was LOUD..! At one point my Senior year, five of the top 10 were MVC teams... the others were Kentucky, UCLA, North Carolina, and a couple of other ones.

and yes me too... good job guys and coaches. Good luck against WKU..

I am pretty sure that Greenbat hates these undercoached 20 seasons we are having. This is only the second time in our horrible basketball history that we have had 3 straight 20 win seasons! And with all 5 starters coming back I would be disappointed if we didnt have 4 straigt. Congrats JJ !

As I walked out the other night from the win against FAU, I thought (as I have been critical over the years of JJ) we should do what we could to keep him around. 3 straight 20 wins seasons here is a pretty nice accomplishment. I would have to figure out how to look it up, but I can't remember a season where I saw a UNT team shoot free throws as well as they have this year and not jack up 3's all of the time. I know they didn't shoot free throws this well when he took them to the tourney several years ago.

Please don't say that we have a "horrible" basketball history, because that's what the people with loser mentalities around these parts would like us to think. Maybe I'm living in the past, but we were pretty damn good during the Blakely era, not too bad under the Gales and Jankovich eras, and we're working on being DAMN GOOD under the JJ era. Some of the posters older than me can attest to the fact that we had some pretty good teams even before Blakely. Time to convince everyone that we are for real!

We've had our moments, but in 91 years of basketball we're over 100 games under .500 - so I wouldn't say we have a very good basketball history either.

Way to go guys!!! Great win. JJ and his guys deserve a ton of credit for yet another 20-win season. I see that becomming the "rule" rather than the exception at UNT. For all those folks on this board and other places who think athletics is "bad" at UNT, take this and stick it in your pipe and smoke it! UNT is build a winning tradition in athletics. That move is currently being led by men's basketball, but with a new women's coach and a new attitude, women's BB is not far behind, golf has a new coach and a new attitude as does women's softball. Women's soccer continues its winning way and tennis is doing a nice job of making a name for itself around the nation. Football is definitely improving as witnessed by Friday's open practice. Lots of changes coming for 2009.

Get ready, it's going to be harder and harder to find reasons to complain about the state of UNT athletic programs. Wow, at that point some folks on this board will have a very difficult time indeed!

GREAT WIN GUYS! On to victory tonight against WKU!!!! Let's make it 21 wins tonight!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

All I am doing is calling a spade a spade. If you look at our media guide you can see how bad this has been. I just think it speaks volumes of what Coach Jones has been able to do here esp. after the Trilli debacle.

Agrre with you 100%. However, living in the past and alwys bringing up the "trials of past eras" does not say anything about where UNT is today and where it is heading. It's like dating the beautiful girl and having people alwys say, "yea, she's beautiful now, but she was really ugly when she was 15"!!! What in the heck does that have to do with anything? Florida State couldn't beat a DIII team at one time in its past football history. So????

Again, Calvin...I agree with your comments, it is just a bit frustrating to me that when good things happen, everyone seems to want to add the ..."BUT".....who the heck cares about the "but"...let's get win #21 tonight!!!!!
