I don't think they'd be looking for a neutral site if attendance was consistently good every year. But we struggle, and they want to get more butts in the seats and get them to stay longer.

I do think it is a nice trade off when you get the tourney in your house every once in a while.

if they moved the tournament to have it all on a weekend, the attendance would go up. Its hard for students / people with jobs to make the tournament when most of the games are during the school week

That is the corredt answer. The Conference can hold the tournament anytime, but to get the championship game on TV, they have to work a weird schedule.

They could have the tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, skip Monday and still have the finals on Tuesday. Just a thought. More cost for teams to 'hang out' from Sunday to Tuesday, I guess.

Hot Springs is cool, I guess. I don't understand why they don't have it is a geographically central and fun-time city like New Orleans. It is, after all, where the Sun Belt Conference has their home office.

This is a print news story about the impact on the community from one of their local TV stations. There is also a rotating album of like 3-4 pictures where you get acouple of looks at the arena. Seems very nice. Anyways, here's the article.
