Citadel Radio Closes At $0.01

Recommended Posts

That leaves a total market capitalization of just under three million dollars, despite owning some of the nation's largest radio stations, including WABC / New York City, WMAL / Washington, WBAP / Dallas - Fort Worth, KGO - KSFO / San Francisco, WLS / Chicago, WJR / Detroit, KABC / Los Angeles and dozens of other music and talk stations across the country, from Albuquerque to Providence and all points in between.

Terrestrial radio is a dieing breed. Kill it!

I don't think so. Satellite radio just never really took off. People still like listening to local radio stations with live hosts who can talk about local news. Even when Sirius bundled their radios with new car purchases, they found that subscribers just weren't sticking around after their "free" subscription was up.

Actually the article talked about how these are stations with huge ratings because of their conservative talk show format, but that new management (who had different political views) tried to broaden the format to other parts of the political spectrum. As a result, their ratings dropped and they lost revenue.

Just goes to show, never mix your personal politics with business.
