Ot: Any Talk Of North Texas Baseball ?

Our baseball coach said that North Texas was getting baseball a couple of years ago.

What happened, and is this a possiblitly in the future?

Texas is absolutely loaded with hardball talent.

Our AD has stated that building the new stadium is the priority prior to adding any more sports, but he has said that he wants baseball at NT.

AD keeps saying baseball is coming and on his short list, but football stadium is the first priority and scheduled to open 2011. Next would be how to fund/balance ships for this new men's sport....cut a current men's sport or add another women's sport? There is dedicated land for a baseball stadium on the UNT Masterplan next to our new softball field.

Hey, I had a class in something called "speedball" when an undergrad at UNT. It was really a great game...had parts of football, basketball and soccer all added together. We played on what is now the band practice field close to Fouts. Anyone else remember this game? It was really exciting...no standing around like that game with sicks and mitts. I'd go for that.

If it make everyone feel any better, I am fully aware that men's soccer is WAY DOWN THE LIST (yes, behind baseball) of possible added sports. But, the reality of that will not stop my "one man" effort to see the return of men's soccer to UNT. :rolleyes:

I think I played speedball in middle school. It was like soccer except that if you kicked the ball, you could catch it and run with it like a football. Opposing players could grab your flag and cause a turnover. Otherwise, there were two goalies and you could throw for a 1-point goal, kick for a 2-point goal, or drop kick through the uprights for a 3-point goal.

Unfortunately, I'm still serving out my one year suspension from Premiball for using performance enhancers. I was busted using umbilical cords to boost my stats.

But when I come back, I'm going to tear this league up! No more backne, crackne, or ballsacne, either! Living clean and playing mean, baby! Look out, Premiballers!
