If I coach North Texas, McCoy starts for me. I will overlook some breakdowns on defense or some poor passing for the explosive offense he brings to the game. Yes, I like McCoy a lot.

Really love Adam McCoy?

Man, he could not have picked a better time to play his best ball both offensively and defensively!! I hope his talent carries us all the way to the NCAA tourny!

Does anyone know the story on him? Ive only been following the basketball team for 2 years, but I don't see why someone this talented would be sitting on the bench most of his career, except for the final 10 games or so...

When I saw him play against Cameron last season, I was convinced he would be a star. Near the end of last season when he put up 21 against ASU, I was convinced the shackles were gonna be off, and he'd be all conference this year. For whatever reason it has taken him most of the this season to get on track, but right now he is a machine. These last 4 or so games have been among the most impressive stretches I've seen a NT player have in 20+ years of following the program.

We don't see eye to eye on everything, but this has always been one thing we've agreed on. If he's plays like an all-conference guard for our next 7 games (at least) I think that will be what we always remember.

The biggest thing to me about Adam is that he knows his potential and how good he can be...he knew it as he was playing 5 minutes a game, he knew it when he sat the entire UNO game...but he's never pouted, never bitched about his minutes...and he's always ready to contribute. Gotta love a true teammate.

Coach Jones on why McCoy is now playing from today's DRC:

“What I am excited about for Adam is that he is a senior who came to North Texas with a reputation as a great shooter, but he didn’t play as hard or play as good defensively as we needed him to,” UNT head coach Johnny Jones said. “The light has come on for him the last couple of weeks. He has played both ends of the floor and is taking care of the basketball. He is playing within himself and made huge strides.”

I'd argue that any "lights coming on" were in the head of Johnny rather than Adam.

Yes, I heart Adam hard..... and hate Denver.

Then again, we aren't at practice everyday. Who knows how hard he played defense there. *shrug*

That's very true. But maybe, just maybe, Johnny finally tired of playing with the tiniest backcourt in the history of the galaxy all game long.
