Looks like play-in game tickets are on-sale now. At least if you are a season ticket holder. Got an email today alerting me to the fact that I could now purchase my season ticket "seats" for the home game next Wednesday at the Super Pit! I'm buying mine today!!!!

At this point, this will be my first game of the season to attend. Kind of excited.

Can someone explain "play-in game" to me. I thought this was a first round SBC tournament game?

It is...I guess Kram just meant we have to play a game to get to Hot Springs...but since 10 of the 13 teams do as well I think "play-in" was just a mis-speak.

Play-in was not mis-speak. They are all "play-in" games and have been called such by the media as well as yours truly. You either win this game or you don't play in Hot Springs. Some teams have byes to the tournament. Play-in teams do not! If it were not a "play-in" game, all teams would be heading straight to Hot Springs. UNT has "won" the right to have a home play-in game and that is a very good and positve thing. I'll be there and hope the place will be "filled to the rafters". I am hoping that the students will finally decide they should at least walk across campus to a FREE game and support their team. These guys have played hard, have "won" a home play-in game and will do all they can to move ahead to Hot Springs...I hope the MEAN GREEN NATION does its part by filling the seats.

Where have they been called Play-In by the media? Most refer to them as Opening Round games.

When we over half the teams are competing, you can't really call a game a true Play-In. That usually implies just a couple of teams, or a handful at most playing. Like the Opening Round of the NCAA's(the 64/65 game) for instance.

Of course, technically every game in the SBC Tournament is a PLAY OFF game, from here to the conference title game.

No...this game will be the "first-round" of the Sun Belt Tourney. The "play-in" game your may have heard in the "media" is the Tuesday game that usual pits the SWAC winner against the Northeast Conference winner for the right to have their asses handed to them by North Carolina...though the NCAA insists on calling that the "opening round" game now to build up morale before Ty Lawson drops 40 on the winner the three days later. Nobody in the NCAA's has a bye, thus the 65-64 game is a "play in."

You guys can argue over what to call-it all you want...who cares...UNT is playing a game (how's that?) at the Super Pit next Wednesday. The winner goes to Hot Springs. Is that good enough for everyone????

Point is...get yourself to the Super Pit and in one of the seats for the game. Call it the friggin' SUPER BOWL or the WORLD SERIES or THE WORLD CUP (had to get a soccer reference in) if you want, I don't care, really, I don't, but I do care if you can't (or choose not to) be there IN PERSON to fill the Super Pit and support the Mean Green.

Can somone on campus start a "Fill the Super Pit" campaign? How about a table near the Union beside the dumb SDS folks who want to re-vote of the football stdium. Let's get a table up to hand out fliers asking students, faculty and staff to actually show in BIG numbers for the game. The AMAZING PIT CREW needs some additional help for this one. See you there!

Dare I mention that Hank Dickenson referred to the game as a "play in game" on the radio broadcat of the Ark. St. game last Thursday evening. No, I really shouldn't as some folks might take offense and start this who symantics thing all over again.:flowers:

OK, my real reason for posting on this thread once again is to simply remind everyone that tickets are on sale and folks need to get their tickets and get to the Super Pit on Wednesday for the game. Students...please come and please bring your friends...GREEKS...can you folks get a turnout going for this one? Other athletes...how about coming out and supporting your fellow Mean Green athletes...it would be a great show of support. BESIDES...students get in FREE!

Townies...get off the sofa and get to the SUPER PIT. It will be a great evening!

A big fan turnout could really help make the homecourt advantage a REAL home court advantage...let's get it done and get on to Hot Springs. GO MEAN GREEN!!!

Hey Kram, I think we sort of owe you an apology since you probably heard Hank say play-in in the past. I'm sure you just were repeating what you heard.

That said, Hank is wrong - and has also called non-conference games "preseason games" on broadcasts before. So, he is not what I'd call the authority on terminology.

Did you accept it as gold when Mr. Obama proudly proclaimed that America invented the automobile?

Semantics=Hours of fun!

Obama mentioning that the auto was invented in America was NOT semantics in any stretch of the immagination...he was just plain WRONG! Where is the main stream media jumping all over that as they did when Mr. Bush erred? Go figure.

Anyway, I am looking forward to watching the Mean Green win Wednesday evening at the Super Pit, and sure hope we have the largest crowd of the year...we should. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!
