It's hard not to laugh out loud at this Todd Dodge quote from the article. Yeah, Todd. Because the other 118 coaches of FBS schools are just sitting around waiting to be considered for the opening of a high school coaching position. It would be so flattering for, say, Nick Saban if Huntsville Grissom High School began mentioning his name in their coaching search.

You see stuff like this and it is laughable; but, it's also sad. It may be a harbinger that the guy's head really is so big that he believes his old press clippings. In a little over six months, we'll see if he's learned anything at all about his "body of work as a head coach" from 2007 and 2008.

Sad that Dodge would even comment on such a possibility. Sorta like UNT ever thinking of hiring a HS coach as HC for a second time after the Dennis Parker era....oh wait.

Thats apples and oranges for a few reasons. First, as far as I know, Nick Saban has never been considered the best high school football coach in the country. Second, Saban isn't on the hot seat. Finally, Saban has no close ties to Grissom High School. This article wasn't a jab at Dodge and it shouldn't be used as a tool to fire off at Dodge either. We asked about the validity of the poll in the Austin American Statesman and Dodge was kind enough to reply. I talked to the assistant athletic director at Westlake High School and he practically thought it was laughable to think Dodge would leave here for the high school so that should tell you something right there.

Lonnie, it is still the dollars that keep us from doing the things, especially with the type of coaching staff you want here. You can put all your money into the head coaching position, and he still will not be able to do it all. Top assistants are not going to work for free.

I read this every day and cannot believe anyone who went to UNT would continually berate,run down, and totally trash

the coach (if you agree with him or not). We are forever mean green and should try to keep down the constant trash

talk about the football coach, team, and University. Maybe if you are not happy quit posting and just quitely go away.

Some of us on this forum love our University and will stick with it through thick and thin as we have for years. Ever since

I was here until 1970 I have never run down, talked about, or looked down on our fine University. I have North Texas Tags,

belong to North Texas Exes, and have season football tickets no matter the score. I will forever fight for my University, and

am really getting tired of the constant beratting and running down anything to do with the team. Sorry, but I am just venting,

but I am tired of reading the same crap from the same posters continually, over and over. Once again, if you don't like the

team and won't support it get off the forum. This is the reason I haven't posted in a long time because of the negativity of the

board. Either get behind the Team and University, or get off the board.

sorry, but this is not the sunshine board. get your own board if that is all you want to read. we support unt being the best on the field and something well short of that will be debated as to the cause. you can be satisfied with mundane if you want. some of us want unt to actually be competative in sports.

What is wrong with you people, many predicted it would take at least three years to turn this program around. Everyone wanted it to happen overnight, but we all knew it would most likely be a bitter pill. Now there are a bunch cry babies all over this board. Crap no I am not happy either, we are going into the third year of the Dodge era, this is where the rubber meets the road. He will either have significant improvement or he won't. Now what is improvement? Improvement is by nature of sports somewhat of an intangible, but I think we will know it. I expect to move out of last place or the bottom three of Division 1a. I want to be in or be competitive in most of the games. I will not set a win/loss line, though I know I would like to see 6 wins as an optimist.

Dodge should worry about BIG BOTTLED HEADED kids who are cheating the system and potentially going to hurt this team especially if its a kid who in two months has gone over 200 lbs. from all the PM messages I am getting.

Its the obvious SLC phamarcy is now being employed at Fouts Field. Ask Padron about the juice and who is on the juice now at UNT.

Who people who post I don't give a damn, and everybody does it, are too naive and just too dam stupid.

If the NCAA tests on Player at UNT for roids, and its a player of this magnitude, it will take us down. THAT's WHY I GIVE A DAMN.

Next time he shows up at the pit, you can tell. UNT2012 is dead on. Its gross and very scary. Sets a bad image and tells the others on the team that anything is fair and we will look the other way.

Whatever Dude!! Obviously you've got an extreme case of class envy. Since noone has ever associated you with anything worth a crap you wouldn't know why being thought well of would be flattering. What do you expect someone to do when they are mentioned for a job, speak about how much of a disgrace it is to be mentioned in association with xyz, no you show some class and make it seem like it would be a great opportunity and you are flattered to be associated with that particular respectable organization! You've got to go, not Dodge! No matter what you write it is all complete personal opinion and not knowledge. Everyone knows you don't give a crap all you are about is pushing your personal vendetta against another. I guess you could never find you way out of the tunnel. It's ok to fail in life as it is how you come back after failing, you obviously haven't learned that part of life yet. Move on with you life and find something to be that might help someone. I'm sure a coach that was lambasted by folks of your ilk when he required testing last year for recreational drugs is going to look the other way when it is suspected that someone is on the juice.
