2/ Did I miss something ? I thought we filled all the positions

3/ Why in the hell would we use something like this to find a coach in the 1st place

* edited* position type says Assistant Coach , but under details says Assistant Director of Football Operations. So I'm guessing we are looking for a assistant coordinator to the football team.

Sorry for the miscue , I jumped to conclusions.

What's worse? Having unknown and unproven coaches or having your coaches robbed from your program?

I guess their is a reason our program is in such a mess with a unproven head coach ( and his cast of past and still present characters).

Owls football: Another one bites the dust

Paging Rick LaFavers. Darrell Patterson, please pick up the white courtesy phone.

At this stage, LaFavers and Patterson might be questioning their coaching chops. With offensive line coach/running game coordinator Blake Miller getting called up to the big leagues on Sunday, LaFavers (tight ends) and Patterson (running backs) are the lone offensive coaches still aligned with Team Bailiff.

Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Tom Herman took the money and ran off to Iowa State. Dan Hammerschmidt wanted what was best for his family, so he moved on to Wyoming. Miller longed to coach for an established program, and S&C coach Yancy McKnight managed all three in joining Herman in Ames.

Bailiff has had better months, but he understands the game. When smaller programs win, bigger programs come sniffing around. Coaches are poached and replaced, the season comes and goes, and the cycle repeats itself. On some level Bailiff is flattered that he constructed a staff of coaches programs with deeper pockets lust after. He reiterated his goal to hire assistants that will help Rice keep winning. If those assistants are whisked off to greater paydays, that means the Owls are thriving. Beyond the defections, that's the bottom line.

Should CDC make competitive financial offers to keep the assistants in the fold? Absolutely. Should he throw ungodly amounts of money at coaches who might not want to stay on South Main anyway? Probably not. Sometimes things happen to where no one is really to blame, even the loss of four coaches in six weeks.
