6 meters isn't nearly far enough away for fire protection. Especially in a dry-brush area. I mean, I'm all for environmental protection laws, but that local authority needs to rethink their system.

I think it's been mentioned that firebreaks are something both sides of the environmental debate agree on (of course no need to work on what can be achieved when there are political points to be made). However, some of this suggests that people should be encouraged to build close to wildland that will sometimes burn no matter what. Would those making these arguments say "do whatever it takes to protect those choosing to build near sea level"?
