AF-805B - A-11 Offense Installation Manual

Kurt Bryan, Head Coach of Piedmont High School (CA) and Assistant Coach and Director of Football Operations Steve Humphries developed and then installed the A-11 offense last fall.

Well, it was written by another high school coach. So, we at least know Dodge would be able to understand it.

HEY QUONER,

THERE WAS AN ARTICLE IN ESPN MAGAZINE A FEW MONTHS AGO (OCTOBER) ABOUT THIS OFFENSE. SEEMS IT USES EVERYBODY AS A RECEIVER. IT WAS DEVELOPED BY SOME PART TIME COACH WHO WAS AN ACCOUNTANT (I THINK) AND IS USED BY PIEDMONT HIGH SCHOOL IN SAN FRANCISCO. IT TALKS ABOUT HOW THE THE SPREAD WILL CONTINUE TO EVOLVE, EVEN INTO THE NFL, BECAUSE IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS, DROP BACK/PRO STYLE PASSERS WILL BE RELICS, BECAUSE THE SPREAD IS SO POPULAR IN HIGH SCHOOLS, MORE AND MORE COLLEGES WILL USE IT SO THE NFL WILL HAVE NO CHOICE, THIS FROM THE ARTICLE, SO TO ALL OUT THERE, PLEASE DON'T SHOOT AT THE MESSENGER. THE NFL WILL ADOPT IT BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE QUARTERBACKS WHO ARE BETTER IN THE SPREAD, AND THEY CAN HAVE TWO QUARTERBACKS, AND STILL NOT HAVE SO MUCH MONEY TIED UP IN THAT POSITION (AGAIN, FROM THE ARTICLE, NOT ME).

LONNIE, I WOULD SUGGEST YOU READ THE ARTICLE ON IT BEFORE PASSING JUDGEMENT. QUONER, I COULD NOT FIND A LINK TO IT, CAN YOU OR SOMEBODY ELSE.

Sorry GD, I knew about the background on the offense and am not opposed to using elements of it. I just wanted to follow up on the offseason resources link I posted earlier. I may try to find a couple of random things like this a week and let the admins sort them out.

Just for fun, here's an NPA (?) story on it: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...toryId=95035232

And a highlight video:

I took a look at this last year, and I'm underwhelmed. It's basically saying "Look, we don't have the personnel to compete, so we're going to wheels-off this thing and force you to defend it." As a change of pace or something, it might be a neat wrinkle for a play or two, but superior athletes will stuff it. I like the highlight video and some of the horrible tackling that made this offense "shine".

Interesting. Not what UNT should be doing.

This is nothing more than the "Ninja Formation" that Mike Leach briefly used when he was OU's offensive coordinator in 1999. He unveiled it against Texas A&M.

From that game, about at the :57 second mark of the video (by the way, #7 for OU in the highlights was former Dallas Carter running back Michael Thornton):

Very interesting, thanks for the pic.
