The Todd Dodge experience isn’t exactly working. Giovanni Vizza, the top quarterback of the last few years, is going to Texas A&M, the worst defense in America doesn’t have too much hope of being immediately better, and star WR Casey Fitzgerald is gone. The passing numbers will be there again, but wins will be hard to come by.

But for one late interception return for a touchdown, we would be WKU. The steps (back) we have taken the last two years.

But for one Y chromosome my uncle would be my aunt.

Why all the negative attitudes? The mean green dragoneagles are gonna win the 5A championship for sure.

Wait a minute... We play college ball so nevermind.

Well, maybe CFBN has the opposite affect as the Sport Illustrated jinx. Last year, they picked FIU as the worst team for 2008. Then, the Panther went out and won some games.

Of course, the X factor is Mario Cristobal having all of that dreaded prior college coaching experience. I don't know what our X factor could be, though. Magic, exploding coconuts, maybe? Pouring honey onto the opposing teams as they run onto Fouts Field then releasing swarms of wild locusts (as opposed to domesticated locusts) on them at kickoff? The old road runner and coyote falling anvil trick? Anyone?

I would say our X factor is the addition of our JUCO players, specifically two 300lb defensive tackles and their new skins-on-the-wall coach.

Oh wait, I think I was supposed to make some smart ass comment and derail the discussion. Damn me! I can't get anything right.

Nothing about locusts or other swarming insects? The latitude is so wide.

We have defensive tackles that are big. I hope they play well next year. I like their HS stats and how they project. If they are good, we will be deeper at the position. Controlling the defensive front makes your whole defense better as you pressure their offense to react to you and dictate things instead of sitting back and trying to react to what they want to do to you.

Football analysis = brain surgery. Let's do it again the next time we talk about the defense, but maybe include their size in parentheses next time.

Are you implying that a defensive line that consistently creates pressure up front can also expect to see improved play from it's secondary as it disrupts the QB's timing, forcing quicker decisions before coverage breaks down? Or are you saying that being able to stop the run up front can force an opponent into a one-dimensional attack that should will in turn benefit from an improved pass-rush, thus creating an all around better defense ergo team? Either way, to keep the offenses at bay you must get better play from the guys up front day to day. Todd Dodge's job we can save! What do you say? HEY HEY HEY
