One of my biggest influences is a comedian named Bill Hicks. He appeared on Letterman's NBC show a number of times. When Dave moved to CBS he invited Hicks, then cut his act out of the show. Four months later Bill died of pancreatic cancer. Friday, 15 years after Dave cut Bill's segment, he had Bill's mom on to talk about it and play the segment.
