About an honor after I put on the blog that Shavod Atkinson has an offer on the table from West Virginia, I got a call from Kelvin Jackson, a defensive tackle from Itawamba (Miss.) Community College.

I know I'm being super petty here, but dude. Published journalism. Proof-reader.

Meh, we got someone to help out on the line. This pleases me.

So was jackson a backup plan in case Atkinsen went elswhere? I don't know about anyone else but I have a felling Shavod is headed east. Edited by filmerj

No Jackson wasn't just a backup plan. He and Weber were recruited at the same time in a sense. We will see about Shavod Atkinson. Keep your fingers crossed, but it sure is cold in Morgantown, WV.

EXCELLENT...just excellent! In spite of the record, it appears some folks can see that UNT is headed in the right direction. man, the 2009 season is lokking better and better as far as potential improvement. "Potential" is always "potential" until turned into reality on the playing field, but can't help but like whjat is going on with this recruiting class.

Congratulations to TD and his staff! And, to RV for providing facilities that make it possible to recruit these guys!

Well...I think the coaches do realize that as well. I guess you have to give them credit...this guy may not be as highly regarded, but he is better than nothing I suppose. Hey...at least they are trying...

      Visas revoked for international students in state At least 110 international students at Texas universities have had their visas revoked or their immigration status marked as terminated in a federal database, The Texas Tribune reported. As of last week, these universities confirmed the number of international students affected: University of North Texas: 27 University of Texas at Dallas: 19 University of Texas at Arlington: 27 Texas A&M University: 19 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley: 9 Texas Women’s University: 4 Texas Tech University: 3 The University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston said that some of its students had a change in their immigration status but declined to say how many. On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security said it would begin screening the social media feeds of international students for “antisemitic” content. Pro-Palestine protests were held at several Texas campuses after Israel retaliated in Gaza after the Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas.

      UCF, USF, UTSA, and Texas State never killed off a program and intentionally kept it down for 12 years until it became a way to make more money to whore out the football team for funding. One school did this. And its haunted us for 40+ years, in some form or fashion. Alums walked away. Students wouldn't even dream of following the program. Media laughed at us or ignored us, which is why North Texas State has been a thing for so long, even though the name change was in 1988. Now, your point about leadership being terrible STILL is spot-on.

      That decision was a disaster but can we really still be blaming it in 2025? USF didn't even have a football team in 1995. UCF was an FCS independent that year. Both rose up, UCF all the way to the P5/4/3/2. Our excuse is older than their time in FBS. I think the biggest reason we lack deep-pocketed alumni support is our consistent lack of success. We have to win games and keep winning them to make a difference. Otherwise this will continue to be just us weirdos who bleed green and the current crop of commuter students. Edited to add: I should also blame the lack of leadership at UNT that enables success.

      girls shoot the second best round of the day (along with charlotte) at +7 and are now in a tie for 4th with memphis at +15...tulsa still leads at -7 last round tomorrow
