At 735 pm [Tuesday], Roberts administered the oath of office again to Obama in the Map Room. Robert Gibbs said the WH counsel, Greg Craig, believes the oath was fine Tuesday, but one word was out of sequence so they did this out of a "an abundance of caution." "We decided it was so much fun..." Obama joked while sitting on a couch. Obama stood and walked over to make small talk with pool as Roberts donned his black robe. "Are you ready to take the oath?" Roberts asked. "I am, and we're going to do it very slowly," Obama replied. Oath took 25 seconds. After a flawless recitation, Roberts smiled and said, "congratulations, again." Obama said, "thank you, sir." Smattering of applause. "All right." Obama said. "The bad news for the pool is there's 12 more balls." Edited January 22, 2009 by UNTflyer

Hahaha, yeah, the new Chief Justice kinda bungled it up at the formal ceremony. I got a good laugh out of it, but I guess its okay that it's all re-official now. *shrug*

It's an interesting Constitutional question. Amendment 20 says he's President at noon on January 20, but Article 2 says you must complete the Oath before Executing the Office. So he could be President with no real powers theoretically.

On the other hand Herbert Hoover substituted "maintain" for "protect" when he was sworn in because Justice Taft was winging it and got it wrong.

I don't believe that stupid, asinine conspiracy... but it would be an easy thing to settle if he would just authorize the release of his original birth certificate. It begs the question, "Why doesn't he?"

---I thought it funny that the Bush appointee (Chief-Justice) messed up what he meant to say....considering Bush was always fouling up or mispronouncing what he was trying to say. His legacy continues.

Folks...get over it...the guy won! Too darn bad, but the guy won...and this was not the first time the oath was messed up and had to be re-taken. Give it a rest.

The more interesting point might be why the press wasn't all over the "Boo-ing" of President Bush when he came out (just no class at all!) and why the press isn't doing investigative reporting on who paid for all of Mrs. Obama's clothes and what they cost and the clothes for the two daughters...aka Sarah Palin. Now, that's important stuff just like it was in the campaign.

And, what part did President Obama play in the fact that the company that makes the suits he likes best filed for bankruptcy???? Man, we need to get to all this important stuff...just like in the campaign. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I'm almost positive when LBJ took his oath on the plane after Kennedy was assassinated they did not have/use a bible. I think they found some religious prayer book of JFK's and used that as a substitute.
