It feels weird to say that a game against FIU might be the most important game of the season...however with UNT's remaining schedule picking up Ws in these next two games could be critical.

Probable Starters -

PG. Nick Taylor 5'10" 165 Soph. (4.1ppg, 3.1rpg, 3.7apg)

SG. Michael Dominguez 6'3" 185 Fr. (11.4ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.3apg)

SF. Alex Galindo 6'7" 230 Sr. (15.2ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.3apg)

PF. Nikola Gacesa 6'9" 235 Jr. (10.3ppg, 4.4rpg, 40% 3PT)

C. Freddy Aspirilla 6'10" 260 Fr. (13.2ppg, 8.6rpg, 52% FG)

Key Reserves

G. Tremayne Russell 6'0" 180 Soph. (7.3ppg, 2.5rpg, 1.8apg)

F. Cedric Essola 6'9" 6'8" 215 Jr. (5.3ppg, 3.5rpg)

F. Marlon Bright 6'5" 225 Sr. (4.8ppg, 3.7rpg)

C. Russell Hicks 7'0" 260 Sr. (8.1ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.0bpg) - Has been injured and may not play.

No team in conference has been hit harder this season by injuries than FIU. Highly anticipated recruits Josue Soto and J.C. Otero have not played a minute this season and all conference players Alex Galindo and Russell Hicks have both missed considerable time...amongst others...so while their record is rather under-impressive, players who were expected to play a minimal role this season have gained valuable experience and as players work their way back into the line-up FIU's depth becomes a great asset.

FIU has won 3 of 4, including a 2 point home win over Western Kentucky...and a lone loss at MTSU. Their size is what worries me most...especially if Hicks returns to the fold. Freshman Freddy Aspirilla has really picked his game up in Hicks' absence (who has been out since the end of November), scoring 20 or more in 3 in their last 4 games. Galindo's return has taken the scoring pressure off of freshman Michael Dominguez...both are more than capable three point shooters, coupled with forward Nikola Gacesa's ability to step out and FIU has potent inside and outside options.

We knew Hicks would not play; why did Asprila not play?

We now have played consecutive games against teams whose 2 best players did not play.

Yep and this team beat WKU at home , so a road victory here says a lot about this team. GMG!!!

I don't know, but I'll take it. Soto made his debut and showed what he's capable of (15 points on 5-8 shooting in 31 minutes)...if Aspirilla and Hicks return I'll be very happy having walked out with a win when we did.
