Did you actually see Vizza being a starter this fall? Really?

Am I the only one that sees Dodge's only chance of survival is to win this year - which the jury is out and there are some capital punishment fans on that jury. Riley is the only person that can save Dad's job. That is why I really enjoyed Vizza and wish him the best, but he would have been riding the bench this fall for sure.

So I don't think much has changed other than it is a win win for everyone - Vizza gets to play, Riley saves the day! Mean Green win one this fall!

Vizza's departure certainly bothers me. Not because I think Vizza was irreplaceable or even a particularly good QB, but it is just another sign of how far down the NT program is down right now. When you give a player the opportunity to start two years at QB, and then he leaves apparently without even giving the coach the courtesy of a discussion, it certainly points to a program in chaos.

I wish Vizza well, he did play with a lot of desire, but I do wonder what is wrong with a player and a coaching staff that interacts everyday and yet seems to have so little communication. I don't understand why Vizza would announce his departure without first talking to the coaching staff or why the coaching staff would be so unaware of the situation that they claim surprise.

good p ost, fans are being let out of communications too. where is the leadership of this program?

Kind of like Reesing at KU?

Reesing is a friggin Giant compared to Rodge. I hope he is successful, but I just think he is severely limited as a D1A QB. Every other major college program that did not recruit him as a QB would seem to agree with me.

I didn't realize Reesing was 6'0".

Kansas' athletic site lists him as 5'11. So Rodge is bigger faster and quicker than a legitimate Big12 quarterback? Don't tell anyone.

I'm not sure how Reesing's 6' is taller than Dodge's 6'. I doubt that either are a legitimate 6-0.

Back to Vizza....

Vizza had a comparatively poor year last year but it was so much better than the rest of the individuals (except Fitzgerald). He ranked 37th in Total Offense. The North Texas passing offense ranked 44th in yardage and was 57th in Total Offense yardage. The team was 94th in passing efficiency and Vizza was ranked at #90. As bad as the team's passing efficiency was (mainly due to interceptions) there were only two other team categories where we ranked better than Vizza'a passing efficiency. Those would be Sacks Allowed (71) and Rushing Yardage (82).

We can criticize his inability to throw the long ball and not make good decisions but in his 22 starts he has managed to move to #5 on NT's all-time passing leaderboard.

I am not sure I care either way with this whole vizza thing.

Here is the bottom line...

Vizza was told that he would not start next season and that Riley would.

Vizza didn't want to sit in the back up role. So he leaves.

He wants it all or nothing at all here at good ol' UNT.
