What's With The Tortillas?

I don't know if I dare ask the origin, but I'd like to know the reason for the ban. It can't be because of cleanliness. Surely tossed tortillas attract no more birds/bugs than spent pizza boxes, corn dog sticks and popcorn boxes. Are we worried that an errantly thrown tortilla with defective sharps edges will take out the eyes of a visiting recruit?

...and I just learned this little fact after being big timed by my OU fan neighbor.

OU stole their "Boomer Sooner" song from Yale.

It happens in college.
