New Orleans Bowl

Anybody watching this? I think that Southern Miss player just broke his leg in half. It looked like he had a second knee.

As for overall play in the game, I'm beginning to develop a special hatred for the spread offense and the players looking over at the sidelines several times. It is a hatred normally reserved for puppy kickers and war criminals. That said, it is refreshing to see snaps under center every once in a while.

I can't begin to tell you how much tired head I have from the "players looking over at the sidelines" before the actual plays.

I agree with you, that the looking over at the sidelines thing...has gotten old. To me, it's more of the micro-management of sports, that has taken a lot of the spotaneity out of the game.

Football used to be more creative....back when QBs called their own plays. I'd give anything to have one coach some where, let a QB call his plays...instead of this crap we have now, where the coaches have to put their stamp of approval on every damn move.

Tied up 17 all at the half. Go Sun Belt. Go Troy.

This game shows you how far UNT is behind talent wise on the line of scrimmage and at skilled positions.

Troy blitzed everydown against UNT and is rarely ever blitzing against the speed of the WR and RB of S. Miss. and also because S. Miss is so multiple. Fedora brought over the whole package from Gundy.

TD? Will he ever change?

I remember reading Roger Staubach talking about the first time he went in as the Quarterback for the Cowboys. Landry told him "Football teaches you to be an individual and think on your feet. Now go in there and run every single play exactly as I call them."

I have to admit. I never cheer for other Sun Belt teams in bowl games. I know I'm supposed to support the conference, but I see the Belt as something different from other conferences. Our teams compete in a marathon that I don't think will end any time soon. As a fan, I see a conference title as a stepping stone. If our school can win enough of them in enough sports, or maybe just the right sports, we might earn our way out of the Belt. Because of this over-arching goal, I can't cheer for another team to move any further ahead of us in the race to escape the Sun Belt. I've read other posts where fans knock the WAC, but if the MAC or C-USA don't come calling, I'd much rather play in the WAC, then stay in the Belt. With a new stadium, and a dedicated athletic fee, I see no reason why we should be playing in the Sun Belt in 5 to 7 years. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings with this post. It's just how I feel. If anyone can make a good case for supporting other Belt teams, and or staying in the Belt, I'm willing to read it.

We've had numerous topics in the past of why the WAC would be bad for us from a financial standpoint.

Actually, the WAC would be bad financially, from a publicity stand point and from the chances at a bowl stand point. We would lose on every single count as has be explained ad nausium.

Financially, how does LA Tech do it? Is the publicity worse then the kind we get for going win-less in the worst conference in the country? and I think 1-11 takes care of any bowl chances, in any conference.

I think the new stadium and dedicated athletic fee could change the numbers and the viability of the move.

Crap...Southern Miss wins.

Now all time NOB records

Mountain West 1-0

Conference USA 4-3

Sunbelt 3-5

Could see the writing on the wall.....at 10 min left in 4th....Blakley sure made some bad play calling.....I think a lot of this is coaching....remember LSU where TRoy was up something like 31-3 and then lost the game in the 4th.....pathetic.

Momentum swing after the WR for Troy decides to run backwards. Un-freakin-believable.

That play plus some questionable call playing that ranged from too conservative to kinda wild did Troy in. Disappointing too. This was a very winnable game.
