(from cbs11tv.com):

For the past eight years The Russ Martin Show has been described as a 'treehouse for guys'. Now KLLI-FM or 105.3, owned by CBS - which also owns CBS 11 News and TXA 21, is going in a different direction.

The station will now be called 105.3 The Fan. The announcement that the 100,000 watts of radio airspace would be going all sports was made today.

The Ben and Skin Show will be bumped up to the time slot that Russ Martin used to hold.

One Russ Martin fan actually drove to the radio station to complain. "I'm very disappointed and actually had to get off the freeway to let someone know," James Wallace explained adamantly. "Russ Martin is what made this station. I'm not going to listen anymore."

That type sentiment isn't shared by everyone. Sports fan Ray Villalobos says he stopped listening to Russ Martin after the show host was arrested last July for aggravated assault.

Immediately after the arrest Martin was temporarily taken off the air. Martin turned down a plea bargain. His case goes to trial in January.

General manager David Henry did not say if Martin's past arrest influenced the decision to discontinue airing his show. Henry did say the decision was a business choice to give listeners what they want.

Russ Martin could not be reached for comment.

Sounds like K-Scott and Pete Stein have jumped ship. Next think you know Mike Bacsik's gonna have his own show over there.

Is it going to be sports or shtick? We have all the shtick we can handle with the ticket, but ESPN's sports talk has been pretty bad for awhile for the most part so there may be a market for that.

I know!! Why won't they just shut up and talk sports?

i'm really disappointed that russ is gone. i've listened to that dude since he took over on the eagle back when i was a junior in college....his afternoon show was fabulous, just a bunch of dudes chatting and hanging out. another sports station???? if it replaces espn, then i'm happy about that. i can't stand any of the espn shows.

I am ashamed to have listened to Russ. From 2000-2002 commuted from Denton to Dallas for work...and spent all rush hour listening to him most of the time. His shows were the same everyday... he was very formulaic.

1) Make fun of the hourly employees in the studio

2) Name drop porn chicks

3) Fake like you are drinking (with cork noises popping all the time)

4) Talk about your problems with having too much money (studio in home, car getting pulled over for being to nice, etc)

5) Talk about how your ratings are the most awesome ever.

And finally:

6) Talk about how charitable you are.

Then start over the next day.

I discovered that I was slowly getting beaten down by the formula... Thankfully I now have Sirius.

I'm a big fan of Sea Bass. I think he is really the next up and comer of The Ticket that will do more things like maybe be a co-host or something. I've heard him do post game shows for the Stars and I think he's done the Mavs one too and everytime I hear him he talks sense and I like what he has to say.

I loved listening to his show when I still lived in DFW radio-range. It may have had a formula, but what radio show doesn't? I remember when I first moved to San Marcos, I was surprised to find out that the were simulcasting his show in Austin. Apparently this only lasted for a month because the people in Austin could not relate to him.
