Huh?

Greg Maddux has had a great career but he is not, in my opinion, anywhere near the pitcher Nolan Ryan was. And I am not just talking because Nolan can still to this DAY through a fastball in the high 80's if not 90's, I am talking about his career as a whole. Nolan Ryan was a better pitcher than Greg Maddux.

When Ryan was "on" he was a better pitcher. I mean no one has near the no hitters as Ryan. But Maddux was the model of consistency in his career(what was in...like 15 years in a row of 15+ wins?), wheras Ryan had very few great seasons.

The above by CMJ is why I stated "huh." Yes, Nolan was unhittable from time to time, but he could and probably should be defined as a thrower that relied on an overpowering fastball. Maddux was always a pitcher with a mastery of the strike zone like no other.
