US Ranked 4th

After determining the Big-12 championship game participants, the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.

"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however considering their entire body of work--including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule--our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner stated "The US only had two major victories--Japan and Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head contests--they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted event."

German Chancellor Adolph Hitler said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn 'style points' to enhance Germany's rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional forces."

The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented " France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking they only fell to #2."

Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the Philippines.

The BCS rewards programs that lose early, not late. Nazi Germany wouldn't get credit for their early victories because of their blowout loss down the stretch.

Not true...Oklahoma got into the National Title game the year they lost by 28 in the Big XII title game.

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

An exception doesn't make it false.

Nebraska was blown out in their regular season finale in 2002, didn't even PLAY in the Big XII Title game and still played for the BCS title. Then they were stomped by Miami. How late in the season are we talking about? Texas lost earlier than both of my examples.

If we go to last year, LSU lost their regular season finale and fell to #7. Granted the won the SEC title the next week and catapluted up, but that was a VERY late season loss.

How many examples do I need to throw out there? I have more.

How could they leave out a undefeated Canadian team ??

I know about those. And I'm pretty sure you know just as well about 2006 Florida, or 2003 LSU.

Are you saying it is better to lose late?

I'm saying, it doesn't necessarily matter if you lose early or late. You just need a good reputation(yours OR the conference), PR campaign, and stuff to go your way wins/losses wise with other competitors. The earliest loss of the highly regarded teams was USC. Most people have written them off, no? Didn't help them to lose at the end of September one bit. Florida lost their game 2 days later, and controls their own destiny.

If it was just about who lost earliest - those two would be #2 and #3 currently - not 4 and 5.
