Uhh...lets not sell the Great White North music scene short, thank you...The Dears, The Band, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, The Weakerthans, The Arcade Fire, Gordon Lightfoot, The New Pornographers, Great Lake Swimmers, Stars, The Stills, Wintersleep...and thats not even mentioning indie darlings that I really can't get into and my music friends don't understand why; Ra Ra Riot and Broken Social Scene.

These all just happen to be on the tip of my tongue b/c I've decided that I'm choosing where I'm going to move to next based upon music playlists that i've set up featuring artists from the prospective regions...and Canada is a very strong player...I hear Vancouver is nice.

Used to live in Canada..I'm actually a Canadian citizen. Lots of good bands you list but Ra Ra Riot is from Syracuse, NY Great band tho..seen them twice live

Canada has produced some good country-folk singers- Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray and one of my favorites

from Nova Scotia.
