Deloach has already proven himself to me (as well as other people) that he can coach at the D-1 level. He was one of the last coaches that was hired away from us by a big time program.

So because he did it before, he's not responsible for current performance? So now he doesn't have to coach another down of football? I believe in DeLoach, but I don't think you reward a guy for skins on the wall when his most recent experience is leading the worst defense in the history of forever.

Now, on the other hand, the downside of all this is that now Dodge and DeLoach are relatively inexorably linked. For those clamoring for a new coach, keep in mind your boy DeLoach would likely be gone with the bathwater (unless, of course, he WERE said new HC).

I don't know, but I think to an objective outsider the move of DeLoach to assistant HC after the defensive year we just had would be, if they even heard about it, just another reason to view this program as laughably, absurdly inept.

This is one of the best suggestions in his article. If I were the AD, I would not make it a suggestion, I would make it a directive. In addition, I would give DeLoach the power to fire any coach on the defensive side of the ball....and that includes special teams. I would advise Dodge that he has had it his way for two years and it's only produced the worst two year record in NT history. I would advise him that he can still hire and fire people on the offensive side, but those decisions will be given close scrutiny at the end of the 09 season. I would also advise him that, with very few exceptions, all full pad practices will be full speed contact.

I would finally say that if he didn't like any of these changes, he always has the option of resigning.

[sarcasm] While your at it, why not have it a directive that all practice are open to the public as well. [/sarcasm]

Couldn't resist.

i think b.v.'s article hit the nail on the head, especially with the lack of assistants with college coaching experience. while i appreciate t.d.'s loyalty to his high school staff that came with him, if his performance is based upon the performance of "others", which it is, the he better improve the "others". this is a make or break year for him, which will be used against him in recruiting. two problems:1] what quality players would go to a 3@21 program with the coach on the hot seat?2] what quality assistant coaches with college coaching experience would do the same?

Dodge has connections throughout the high school ranks, but it probably wouldn’t hurt to have a few coaches who are well connected in the Dallas Independent School District on the staff.

I spoke to coach Kenny Evans this past saturday prior to our game, and when I read this above I couldn't help but think of the incredible job he and Deloach did in the past finding some of our most productive players in places other than the big city programs like Dallas I.S.D., and for some, in the smaller towns across Texas and Oklahoma.

Just a few who came to mind.

Chris Hurd...Killeen, TX

J.R. Randle...Copperas Cove, TX

Ian Hobbs...Moore, Ok

Andy Brewster...Midland, TX

Matt Turney...Muleshoe, TX(The Mules are 13-0 and play in the 4th round of the 2A playoffs this coming saturday)

Kevin Galbreth...Edmond, OK

Brandon "Booger" Kennedy...Terrell, TX

Evan Cardwell and Phillip Graves...Hutto, TX

Brad Kassell...Llano, TX

Taylor Casey...Odessa, TX

Craig Jones...Sinton, TX

James May...Graham, TX

Scott Hall...Schertz, TX

Patrick Cobbs and Jeremy Brown...Tecumseh, OK

Andy Blount...Bandera, TX

Adrian Awasome and Brandon Jackson...Fort Bend, TX

Andrew Smith....Bay City, TX(God bless Andrew Smith)

Derek Mendoza...Hereford, TX

Johnny Quinn...McKinney, TX

James Mitchell...Aubrey, TX

Jamario Thomas...Longview, TX

Joseph Miller...Pflugerville, TX

I don't think anyone is discounting the fact that we have had many great players come from smaller towns or areas outside of the Metroplex, but focusing all of your attention on these areas while ignoring the wealth of talent in the DFW area is short-sighted. BTW, Fort Bend County (Awasome and Jackson) is in the Houston Metro area, Shertz (Hall) is in the shadows of San Antonio, as are many other areas listed. Also, Chapman is from China Spring not Big Spring.

Thanks for that info Bill. I have driven past Electra *countless* times... I have always been fascinated by it. That is partly why I was such a Monroe fan, besides his fine play.

I don't think she ever lived in the town however.

For those who are from Ft Worth, this house was built for Electra by her Daddy, Dan Waggoner.

She was living in this house while her new home was being built (scroll down to "El Castile")

El Castile was the model for the family home of the "Benedicts" in the Movie "Giant".

Also, remember Evan Roberson, the small but, very effective RB and outstanding KO return man from Pflugerville.( Could we have used him this Year?) He had a grade problem went to JC to catch up, then was told by the coaches they did not want him back.
