Great work Harry!

Robbie Deheck I'm pretty sure played on special teams this year thus burning his redshirt

Bryon Hager , if I remember, was a grey shirt player so he had to pay his own way this year and not on ship. I guess maybe TD will decide if he is ship worthy next year.... I'm not sure how that works ?

I REALLY hope DRAKE comes back!

One correction, I said that Long Snapper Troy Kokjohn "the heir apparent to Christian Davidson who struggled in an emergency backup role against Arkansas State." Actually it was Eddrick Gilmore who handled all of the punt snaps in the Arkansas State game including the short bad snap that Truman was tackled on. Troy was a flawless four for four in extra point snaps.

Troy played in four games....Kansas State (7 punt snaps & one extra point snap), FAU (one XP), Middle Tennessee (2 XP) and Ark State (4 XP).

Thanks, Harry

Troy Kokjohn-

I remember when Christin Davidson got hurt in the K-State game.

I was wondering who was going to handle the deep snaps now?

NT was deep in NT terrority. 4th and forever. Spencer was going

to punt from deep in the NT end zone. The were 45000 rapid screeming

K-State fans smelling blood! A sacrafice was about to happen!

From out of no where, Jub Jub announces Troy Kokjohn will come

in and deep snap? Jub Jub and Hank were trying to pronounce his

name correctly. A walk on red shirt freshman to boot! Has not played

in a game yet as far as I knew! I was seeing all kinds of bad things

about to happen!

So Troy comes into a very bad pressure situation!

Troy goes out there like no big deal! Cool, calm, and ready!

Makes a perfect deep snap to Spencer who gets off a great punt.

Troy not only make that deep snap, but all of the deep snaps.

Against Ark State, Troy make all the extra point snaps too!

This kid is a winner! Very important position to play!

I am so glad he chose to come to NT!

There are many young players that IMHO that came on as the season

progressed. One of many of players that impressed me is DT Jesse

Desoto. At the Ark St game, I watched Jesse alot. First thing I noticed

was the amount of attention Ark St was giving to Jesse. Just about

every play, Jesse was taking on double teams, and fighting his way

through the blocks. I saw Jesse make good stunt moves too. Jesse is

quick and fast. Another full year of weight training will make Jesse

stonger, bigger, and faster. This kid is special. I think he will be a

dominate DT for NT in 2009, and a force the other SBC teams

will have to deal with. I can see Jesse making SBC honors

for the 2009 season.

Fitzgerald was a walk on.. does that really count as a Dickey recruit??

I think it does. Even though Dickey did not initially give him a scholarship, he did invite him to walk on. They have tons of players that want to walk on in the Spring and Fall. So even though it is not technically a scholarship offer it is an offer to play. Casey's older brother was a scholarship player at SMU and Casey was not given the opportunity to walk on there which in hindsight was a big mistake.

If they don't play then they are redshirted even if they are a walk-on. A Red Shirt Freshman is a student on an NCAA college sports team who was kept out of competition for a year in order to prolong his or her eligibility. Usually this is done to allow the student to be a "part" of the team in terms of learning, healing from injury, and/or conditioning, but not a participant in any of the contests/games/meets/etc.

The following year, they begin their 1st of 4 years of eligibility, or their "freshman" year of eligibility, even if they are sophomores in terms of academics.

Walk on -- player that is not on scholarship but still can be given a redshirt year.

True Freshman -- player who plays in games and has not used a redshirt.

Ditto for Dawson.

Note to Harry:

I appreciated the roster run-through and agree with the vast majority of your evaluations. How about doing the same thing for coaches?

Thanks Harry...with all the rumor mongering going on out there, it is nice to see that you think some of these boys are hanging in there.

I greatly admire the stick-to-it-iveness of these men. As I thought when reading about some of our seniors, you can best predict long term success (on and off the field) by the character of those that persist and persevere.

But wait Harry, you did not take into consideration that 15 or so players are leaving per Mr. Meager.

but we don't know who they are...yet....unlesss he comes on here and tells us of their names.
