Nope. Early season RPI can be wildly crazy. Like...3 seasons ago maybe(?), we were in the top 10 in the RPI after our 2nd game or something. Obviously that dropped. :lol:

It's debatable how accurate the RPI is as far as ranking schools, even at season's end. But it's something fun to look at.

It's accurate, but skewed because of how early in the season we are. For instance, Duke is 16th in RPI, one below Evansville from the MVC. And Western Carolina is ranked 38th with an 0-1 record because they lost to UConn, and that one game counts as the toughest schedule (so far) in NCAA basketball.

Once we've seen more games and the power conferences get into their conf. schedules, things will start to shake out like what you'd expect. But a team that plays decent OOC and keeps on winning, whether it's us, UALR, or Arkansas State, can end up with a pretty impressive RPI. I forget where South Alabama finished last season, but they earned their at-large bid.
