am i mistaken or has this gomeangreen forum turned into the old scotty's board?

for those who do not know what scotty's board was......it was all those individuals who posted negative comments about the program.

we all get really tired of the daily trite posts on how you:

1. think the program should be dramatically better by now.

2. think TD should be replaced.

3. think the DC should be the new HC or leave.

4. think RV should fire TD or resign.

5. think the sky is falling.

6. blah blah blah blah blah.......

just man up and get behind the program 100% including all the coaches & RV because TD was not hired to loooooooose.

I guess I'm not familiar with Scotty's board, but I am equally tired of the amount negativity. Not because I think people shouldn't speak their mind, but because it's the same stuff over and over with nothing really new. One big dawg pile. It would be nice to see the same piranha mentality with positive posts. I still support the program 100%.

I too support the North Texas football program, and have since 1975. And I too get tired of the nothing-particularly-new negative posts.

But just for the record, the people being slammed are NOT THE PROGRAM. They are the people that were hired to run it. They are therefore fair game. And if they don't like the negative assessments, they can resign and go somewhere else.

No, this not nearly the old "Moan and Groan" board.

First and foremost, the quality of sarcasm is not nearly as good. With just a few exceptions, the black humor here is just not up to that level.

Second, I haven't seen complaints about the win, or complaints about people attending the games or going to tailgatings. On the old board, anything that was even slightly positive was bad since anything positive could delay the eventual firing of Dickey. By the time DD was fired, just writing some academic program at NT was good was met with extreme derision. People who wrote those things were "enablers" who were hurting the program.

I have been watching NT football for almost a decade more than you and that does not make me an expert. I have never had a coach yell in my face while sitting in the stands......cuddos for that one "hot dog."

I believe everyone is fair game too......but........the incessant, trite and same 'ol...same 'ol negative "daily" posts get a little tiring. Do you agree or no?

It is almost similar to the boy who cried wolf.....after a while nobody pays any attention.

I support the program 100% and will be at the ASU game Sat for the 1pm kickoff. Look for me I will be wearing the color of the luck of the Irish.

Hot Dog?!?!. :D:D

If yelling at a group of coaches (out of extreme frustration) that we are getting out-coached (no profanity...just facts), AND if one of those self-centered-it's-all-about-me coaches decides to make a spectacle of himself by coming into the stands to wave his arms at me and yell like an idiot, makes me a "hot dog", then you must think darn is a cuss word.

BTW, I've been watching (off and on) North Texas football since about 1963. I've been a supporter since 1975.

I SAID that I too was tired of the nothing new negative posts. You might want to read a little closer.

the negativity does get old but doesn't the baseless positive posts get irritating as well? It seems that some people just don't want to admit the Dodge experiment was a failure and it needs to be fixed asap. Old timers have stated on here the problems we faced in the 50's, 60's,70's, 80's, 90's, and now. Seems like if more people got fed up and started bitching and complaining more and more to the right people, we could finally get these problems fixed so we won't be having them 10 years from now. Maybe its just me but I can't just sit here and watch this train wreck and put my head in the sand so I don't notice it. As long as I spend money on this program, I'm going to bitch and moan all I want. Maybe if we had more people willing to complain in the 50's, things would be better today.

When things were good in the 2003-2004 era, and I was constantly talking about how good we were, I was called a "Pollyanna." Now that things are awful, and I am constantly talking about how bad we are, I get a stream of PMs asking me to stop being so negative.

I think the majority of us just react to what we see. There are some who will be hopelessly negative no matter what they see (that 9-4 season is looking pretty good right now, huh?). And there are some who will be blindly optimistic no matter how bad the situation is (3-21 after Saturday). I personally take the optimist over the pessimist, but I'll take the guy who calls them down the middle over either.

And I completely agree with Silver. You can love the program, and want the best for it, while leveling criticism at those who are running the ship. Criticism of the staff means you do support the program. If you didn't support the program, you're probably not spending any significant time posting on GMG.

As it has been said before, "we will be here long after Coach Dodge, or Rick Villareal, or Gretchen Bataille, or any of the players." Our loyalty is to the Green and White, not to any single person.

I agree with Silver that RV, Dodge, etc. are not the program. I also think this board does a lot better policing itself so to speak. I am aggravated about a lot of things, but have been really trying to not come across with so much aggressiveness, or be negative in my posts. A few have been thoughtful enough to e-mail me and suggest some better ways to communicate. Some people put up things for the sake of debate, not because they think one way or the other. I find that fun, and it helps you escape the negativity of other things going on with our country at this time.

Another thing is we do not get much in the way of daily press coverage from the local media as in many other college towns. This is really the only forum for getting info about our team. I mean, if it was not for Flyer, what would have we known about the athletic fee, the process, etc. Yes, it does become negative, but sometimes that leads to getting the right information to people. All that said, even the negative is good sometimes.

The board is what it is, a forum for various opinions on the topic of UNT sports. Fans can still support the program but want change when things are not right. We're lucky to have fans that still care enough to be here; I know plenty that have given up and gone elsewhere with their time and money.
