Sometimes you have to spend a little to invest long-term. We know the next AAC deal won't be what the current one is, which we already don't get full credits of. Say a full PAC deal ends up being worth $10 million per year which has long been the low end of the rumor. The AAC currently pays out $7 million per year and we get a bit more than a half credit if I'm not mistaken so say $4 million per year. That PAC deal would already pay $6 million more.
Now factor in the NCAA basketball tournament credits which are $2 million per game. The new PAC as it is likely has 4-5 bids per year so more tourney credits than our 1-2 teams.
Seems pretty clear the $27 million would be paid off rather quickly.
Some may ask if their deal is that good, why wouldn't Tulane and Memphis want to go. Well, they believe they'll get an ACC invite when that crumbles so they have hope of their own Power-ish conference membership. We do not. They also currently get a full credit so the estimated deal isn't good enough to travel cross country and pay a $27 million buyout.
Normally Walker would be in there soaking up 20-25 mins on average to make an 8 man rotation, unless you meant in the event that someone else would get injured or sick. It makes me wonder if they are trying to protect anyone's redshirt?
