1. No changes on our offense sets in relation to short yardage situations. Once again today we have a 4th and a foot and we line up with the play starting at the four. Of course we don't get in and once again, in what seems like nearly EVERY game we have no play with the QB under center to run the incredibly short play. So 23 games into his head coaching career in college football, and he refuses to add a play with the QB under center. Don't understand.

2. How many extra points have we missed this season (7 I believe)? What is the record I wonder (cue Tasty). We are in game 11 of this season and we can't figure out how to fix this problem? Seriously?

Off topic, but meanwhile Boise St and Utah roll. Can we envision two BCS busters this year?

Unfortunately not since Ohio State won. Because of ticket sales, TV ratings etc, the Buckeyes will be chosen ahead of Boise, I have no doubt.

Rightfully so, I'll take Ohio St over the likes of Utah and Boise ST......at the end of the day the non-Bcs are what they are....we all know Boise v OU and Utah v Pitt....but give me OSU vs Bama or Texas v USC anyday over Utah Bama or Boise USC

Way to standup for the little guy. <_<

The Boise/Okie game a couple of years ago was one of the best games I've ever seen.

I disagree. Three points:

Few people who aren't football junkies can remember the last time OSU played well in a bowl game, or against which team. Boise State v. OU lives in American folklore.

Speaking of American, it's simply traditional for those without a team to root for to cheer for the underdog, especially when that dog is a mutt.

There are probably more Mormons (including my wife and her extended family) than Buckeyes. Those LDS folks consider Boise State their next best football option to BYU. And yes, they'll probably swallow their pride and root for Utah at this point.

Oh, fourth point; I hope I never see another "Mythical National Championship" game featuring a team as lackluster as Ohio State. Those big northern powerhouses did well when the shameful segregation era kept so many of the best southern football players from playing on the best southern football teams. Maybe the overrespecting of the Big (choose your number) teams will eventually be recognized for what it is; something that came into existence because of a great national sin.

What?

It's not like there hasn't been a Big 10 National Champion this decade --- Ohio State over Miami in 2002.

So, that's why they were brought in to stink up the MNC for the last two years; they were good in 2002?

Well it certainly wasn't because of them being good in the 1950's and 1960's because of segregation. :P

Two years ago they were the only major undefeated school and had beaten a top 10 Texas in Austin. How were you gonna leave them out....no one gave Florida a shot going in(not to mention OSU was on a helluva streak...they'd finished strong the year before on a win streak including crushing Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl). Last year....well that was just a big clusterf*** of teams losing at then end. It didn't seem like anyone wanted in. OSU only had one loss, and as such they rocketed up the rankings when other schools kept losing.

They were just in the right place at the right time.

Tap the breaks there. Speed. The Big Ten doesn't have it. They have it out West. Either Utah or Boise would give Ohio State all they want, and possibly beat them. Ask OU and Pittsburgh how Boise and Utah do in BCS bowls.

I watched them in their last 2 bowl games, both for the MNC. They stunk.

Yes, but 2 years ago....they were a prohibitive favorite over Florida. They were undefeated going in. UNDEFEATED.

Last year, they backed their way into the title game after losing to Illinois when schools like USC lost late season games. They were the only major conference school with one loss. So, once again...they sorta had to be icluded in the title game.

Frankly I don't give a crap about the Big 10, but to say they're just overrated because of junk form 40-50 years ago is just ridiculous. The league is down currently it appears. All conferences are at some point. Honestly, I think the SEC is very down this year as well - despite having Alabama and Florida, the depth is lacking compared to some recent years(all this is IMHO, feel free to disagree).

In the big picture of things, I'm not very enthusiastic about any of these conferences or historical powerhouses. I just want a playoff system to determine the winner. If they want to start with the present 32 or 43 or however many bowl games, ok. Just give me a break about respecting the Big 10 lawyers and whoever else came up with this BCS crap.

Ohio State is much like the Buffalo Bills of the late 1990s. The Bills were good for the conference (AFC) they played in but sucked compared to talent outside that conference (NFC).

I'd rather not watch a very average Ohio State in a high quality bowl game.

I think you meant the early 90's.

I also don't believe you're being fair to either the Bills or the Buckeyes in that assessment. Both were favored in their first Championship appearance - and the Bills nearly won.

Right now, Utah is getting the raw end of the deal. Collegefootballnews has a story about how Utah beat Oregon State, who of course beat USC, yet Utah is one place below USC in the BCS standings. Yet the MWC is 6-1 versus the Pac 10 this year.

I'm sorry if it bothers anyone that I feel this way, but stuff like that infuriates me. It seems like the BCS is nothing but another slick move to preserve an old boys club of rank and privilege, unearned by those benefitting from it. It's interesting that USC is mentioned as the beneficiary of this. When Pete Carroll, USC head coach, heard about Obama's statement against the BCS, he said words to the effect of "I knew I voted for the right guy"! Of course this may get me a small vacation.

Let's look at the remaining undefeated teams (yes, there is more then one):

Alabama

Utah

Boise State

Ball State

Alabama has 2 games left: Auburn and Florida for the SEC Championship. I'd give Bama a 50/50 chance to make it through those 2 games 1-1.

Utah is finished with its regular season. All they have left is post season play. Hopefully they get the nod for a B©S game.

Boise State has Fresno State this upcoming weekend. Boise should win this game.

Ball State should win its game against Western Michigan on Tuesday on ESPN360.

It is feasible that the MNC will consist of 2 teams with at least 1 loss with up to 3 undefeated teams (all non-BCS by the way) watching the big game at home this coming January.
