Mandy filed the application while wearing a brown dress.

I guess you think this is funny. You sir have obviously not read section 14.2.34.134( B ) (commonly referred to as the "1.1 addendum") which CLEARLY states (1) Any athletic department employee filing said documents in prescribed period heretofore mentioned in annex "X" will be required to wear articles of clothing matching school colors or said "player" will be disqualified from exemption. No exceptions!

You'll watch your tone if you don't want to end up on the permanent ban list from the VIP sub-forum, sir.

This will be your only warning.

Then why wasn't Muzzy able to come back in '07?

Zach got injured while returning the opening kickoff against Arkansas on September 9th, 2003. The Arkansas game was the 4 game of that 12 game season. During 2003 the Hardship rule was at 2 games played or a 20% limitation, which would have allowed him to round 2 up to 3 games, but not 3 up to 4. The addendum to the rule was made this year which allows Miller to apply. Zach missed qualifying for it by ONE play.

Thanks for the clarification on this Rick, especially regarding the rules change for this year. I can now see how Miller could be granted a "Medical Hardship" discharge, simply based on the number of games in which he appeared. I guess the key word in the rule, as provided by PHSCoach, is that the NCAA "may" grant the waiver. Of course, the season must end, and the appeal must be filed, for there to be any possibility of that.

It is very difficult to run down and find past articles of players who fit a similar bill as JM's in which they played right up and to the maximum extendable game, yet were also granted a Medical Hardship Waiver. These two below played in 3 of their first 4 games during the "2 game or 20%" rule(now amended to be "3 games or 30%" rule). In calculating for the rule of these two seasons below(2005 and 2007), 20% of 12 games is 2.6, and rounded up is 3. So both players played in three games of 12 game seasons and qualified. There are countless examples in other sports but I wanted to find situations similar to JM in football.

Florida's Andre Caldwell recieves medical redshirt after being injured in the 3rd game of the 2005 season.

Oregon State receiver Sammie Stroughter was granted a medical-hardship year for the 2007 season after playing in 3 of the first 4 games.
