"It's amazing some of the things that people would say [on a message board] or yell at you of a personal nature," Rodriguez said Monday. "You almost want to tell them, 'Get a life.'

I think Richie ought to focus on restoring some credibility to the most storied program in the country, not losing to Toledo, and finding some players to run his system before he's the next offensive coordinator at Vanderbilt.

Beat Ohio State...I need some football to cheer for this season

If he doesn't find the athletes to run his system next year successfully, should he be fired considering his "system players" will be freshmen and sophmores?

why would any coach or administrator get on a message board? Why? They should no better than to read all the crap. Do you think Joe Pa gives a shit about people telling him to retire because he is 80 years old?

Coaches should never get on and read bull shit posts about their program

If all fairness, I don't think Joe Pa uses the World Wide Web very often. I don't know this to be true, but it's my assumption.

As to Ric-Rod at Michigan.... Part of me thinks that if given the time to get it rolling, his style might absolutely dominate the Big10. The other part of me thinks that the kinds of athletes he needs have no desire to play at the coldest of cold weather schools and he needs to get his ass out of there and quit ruining my fall sports watching.

HA! There are [too] many people around here who angrily attack any attempt to find parallels with UNT's situation.

Shouldn't everbody.

and with the direction of the economy, they might.

Rich Rod has every advantage in college football so he really doesnt have any excuses. He should EASILY be able to turn this program around in 2 years. Nick Saban did it at Bama. To borrow a line from the greatness of Bum Phillips, good coaches can take theirs and beat yours, and take yours and theirs. In other words, good coaches know how to get the most out of what they've got and at places like Texas, Michigan, OU and Bama, that should translate to more than 3 wins.

Well, the irony of that statement is that if everyone (especially the BCS fan base) took his advise, all of those "big time" schools would be having turnouts (and cash flow) like.....well.....North Texas. B) And Coaches like him wouldn't have million dollar pay checks.

So he can feel put-upon by all those bloggers and fans yelling at him, but as I'm very fond of saying, "I'm about as sympathetic to the problems of the rich, as I am to the problems of the skinny".......

"There's a whole lot bigger problems. Look at the economy."

Geez, this is a new method for a head coach to deflect criticism. Hey, we all know there are bigger issues in life, but for 3 hours on Saturday your fans want to forget about those problems and see some football.

Rule number one in Coaching 101: Never ever under any circumstances get into a war of words with alums/supporters/fans, you will lose that battle 100 times out of 100.

I wonder how accurate that statement really is. Is there really a benefit that can be derived from a coach battling the customers that he was hired, and payed very well to serve?

Please note that I am not including instances like Okie State 's coach defending one of his players.

Coach Dodge was asked during the usually brutal questioning by George Dunham how the web has effected coaching. Dodge said that if you got a young player that you are trying to build up, and help him correct mistakes, then when he goes to a fan board and is being ripped, then it makes it difficult because they do not have the maturity to handle the criticism. He said the flip side of that is a great player reads how great he is, and lets up because he gets full of himself.

IMHO, I do not think Rodriguez gets it done at Michigan. His system is just not Michigan football.

Is that why the quality of sports was so much better before the media was invented?

I bet Matress Mac might have something to say about that.
