What Sells A Recruit (fb) On Unt

There has been all sorts of posts on the gmg boards stating how bad NT football is and how can we recruit quality players with our losing record. Here's the answer:

Anthony Charles 3* LB from Fort Scott is quoted as saying:

"Charles was impressed with UNT's coaches and believes he can help the team to improve. "" The coaches seemed to care more about what I will do after football than the other coaches I talked to. I believe we can be a good team in the future after meeting some of the guys there now and the ones who were on visits. " Translated...he can help the team...(with playing time)

Folks he chose NT over offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Fresno State and South Florida.

Jamaal Jackson WR from SWMiss CC...Style of offense..."they (NT) spread the ball around and I feel I fit with their program. I will have a chance to catch a lot of balls. I have been watching what Casey is doing for them and feel like I can fill the void when he is gone." Translated....playing time. He chose NT over offers from Louisiana Tech and South Alabama.

And a new stadium that's all but guaranteed now.

As a parent of a current player, one thing that stood out to me when Coach Dodge was recruiting my son was he said there was one thing he knew without a doubt he could promise, "I will surround your kid with good men". To me he has done that with both coaches and players. I still believe good things are coming and before my son leaves North Texas there will be some celebrating done. My son will not get to play in the new stadium, and that is O.K., but having one built will surely help with recruiting.

i believe dodge is a good person and we all want him and the program to be successful but it has to start showing up on the scoreboard soon. there are 100 other good people that also want a chance at a head coach job here.
