The Securities and Exchange Commission filed insider trading charges against Mark Cuban, the outspoken owner of the Dallas Mavericks, for allegedly dumping shares in Mamma.com upon learning it was raising money in a private offering (full text of complaint).

The SEC alleges in a civil action that Mr. Cuban sold his entire 6% ownership stake on June 28, 2004, after learning that Mamma.com was raising money through a private investment in a public entity, or PIPE. The next day, on June 29, the company announced the PIPE financing and shares of the company dropped by more than 10%. By selling his stake, the SEC alleges, Mr. Cuban avoided more than $750,000 in losses.

I'm not sure which improbable win will happen first:

A - Cuban against the SEC

or

B - The Mavs against an NBA team

regardless, this should make for some entertaining fan posters at away games. Im hoping Houston fans bring in on Wednesday.

Those empty seats in the fourth quarter really let Cuban have it. :P

I was thinking that same thing watching the game...

Listening to Van Gundy drool over how talented and deep the Houston roster is, was annoying. Then he later was saying, I don't know how Houston will get points, with their lack of depth. He destroys me. He thinks Raifer slapping Nash is fine and in fact, he should be embarrassed on the playgrounds of NYC. What a complete tool.

I was happy to see the Mavs win a game. But I am even happier to know that Houston is still a beatable team, despite all their talent and depth. Mavs have won that last 11 of 14 games versus the Rockets. I know, I know, but the Rockets have rings. I know.

and meanwhile San Antonio treads along within striking distance, waiting to let my SA in-laws have another chance to mock us all.

Get ready for the Mavs to reach 7-7 and then fall to the Lakers again as the bandwagon gets confused and tries to stop the wagon by dragging their feet, only to suffer horrific feet injuries.

I think the bandwagon has been emptied over that last two years. Doesn't seem like the Mavs get too much good press or respect (they definitely don't deserve press). I don't hear anyone talking Mavs anymore.

They've reached the rarified and coveted "I'm too lazy to discuss or invest in this team, but I'll bitch louder than anyone when they make a trade, lose a close game or get in the playoffs status."

They are right on the verge of the coveted "Git sum pitchin'" Rangers fan who heckles Hicks all game and asks you to sit down when the bases are loaded with a full count in the 7th.

Now that I am located in beautiful OKC, I suppose I am immune to it. Every Thunder fans wishes they had Cuban as an owner.. There is shockingly little basketball talk here, after all, it is still OU season.

This game really didn't tell us anything about either team (and I would have said the same thing had the Rockets won). McGrady, Artest and Yao were all game-time decisions due to injury. Josh Howard didn't play. McGrady shouldn't have played. Yao didn't play. Neither of these teams are who they will be in January, Feb, etc. The Rockets do have depth, however they are still- like the mavs- learning to play together in their system. The fact the Rockets were still in the game early in the 4th qtr inspite of all this gives me hope. I like what Aaron Brooks brings to the table.

Also I forgot about Shane Battier, who is a hell of a defender. Be nice to get him back too.

The Rockets do need to find a big man if (when) Ming is out again. Shooting 2-17 in the 3rd qtr is hard to stomach, so I don't blame anyone for leaving on a week night. Plus the Mavs arent as big a draw for Houston fans as LA, SA, Boston, etc.

And yes, much like Cowboy fan, we'll still point to the rings from the early 90s even though we haven't even been close since.

It was a good win for the Mavs but how long will this mix take them? I mean lets face it they are not even close to the Lakers, Hornets and even a healthy Rockets team. You can probably include the Suns into the mix. I just dont see this thing going far. If they are going to tank then this is the year to do it so they can get a lottery pick and who knows they may stumble on a top 5 lottery pick.

Take that Houston!! Way to win 9 of the last 32 games against the Mavs!! hahahhehehehhahahehehe

Cheer up Yao....... this'll probably be the only game you miss to injury all year!

To sum up all of my feelings I'd like to quote the GREAT Gerald Green, "I hate Houston."
