Losing Football Seasons Start To Fade Away

In towns across America where the local high school, college, or pro football programs did not fare so well, despair will soon fade away as new sports renew optimism for the fans. Basketball and hockey will rejuvenate the masses, at least until baseball or spring football gets closer. You can always watch high school playoff games of winning programs, or the college bowl season is about to begin for those who have accomplished the goals. Maybe take out your anger on a deer (or moose if Sarah Palin) as hunting season begins as well.

Anyway, it seems a long time since the kickoff cookout, what are the pros and cons of NT's football season to date?

Pros:

Athletic fee and new stadium vote passage was tops for the year

football attendance was very strong for a losing record

weather was nice, tailgating was better and enthusiastic

win over WKU got the 0-fer monkey off our backs

Cons:

1-8 following 2-10 is not a good sign

drug issue was a major scandal and bad press

anti-vote students caused bad press

customer service and communication issues continue

i have been attending n.t. football games since my freshmen year, 1961, and this is the worst college team i have ever seen. while the offense can sometimes score, the defense is terrible, and as my army drill instructor used to say, our kickoff coverage is "worst than terriable". last year t.d. inherited a defense with 9 returning starters who gave up 25 points a game in 06 and turned them into the worst defense in nation in 07, giving up 50 points per outing. i see no inprovement in defense, and have concluded that while t.d. may know offense, he is over his head when the other team has the ball. i realize that some of our players are young, but they are not going to be but 9 months older when the 09 season starts. in addition, how do you recruit above average players to a program that will have gone 3and21 in 2 years under t.d., and 9and59 the past 5 years?

On board since Hayden Fry was at UNT......worse team I can remember....unless TD wins ALL remaining games, I think it is time to look elsewhere. I would love for TD to turn this around but as previously posted, I think the stats speak the true story here...and it aint good BEBE REBOZO.

Vito mentioned we were bombed after each win last year and it has happened again. I thought the team might get something out of the win last week but it appears it was just a fluke on another lousy season. I've seen enough. I hear Fulmer from Tennessee is available. Only highlights today were SMUt lost and Iowa beat Penn State. B)
