I smell lawsuit to get back on scholarship.

Good ole Free Speech Austin and the ole Ball coach shuts down Freedom of Speech.

I do not agree with the young man, but it is his right to publish such ignorance.

Don't we still have Dominique Green's, Desmon Chatman's and Gary Oubre's scholarships available? We do need linemen.

He had the right to put what he did on the Internet, but Mack Brown has every right to say that is not what he wants his program to represent.

Yup, to bad country boy was not the starting center or only got arrested for pot or breaking and entering. Damn that prude Mack Brown for not wanting that on his team.

I hate programs were guys get arrested for pot and then it all gets swept under the rug and everyone keeps playing like nothing happened.

Do my eyes deceive me? A reasonable political post?

Next thing ya'know, someone will post something else reasonable like the fact that the gay marriage issue is one of the biggest non-issues in America. And that Americans could save untold amounts of money and legislative energy by just leaving it the hell alone. And instead, deal with things that we CAN do something about......like the millions of children who go to bed hungry every night in one of the richest countries in the world.

Naaahh, that'll never happen.

Speaking of which, have any of you ever taken 'the quiz'?

That was fun - put me right where I thought I'd be on the little graph thing.

Smack in the center for me.

I agree that marriage should be left alone. That is, it should remain a legal and Divine covenant between a husband and wife, as it has been throughout history. But somehow I don't think that's what you mean. Are you saying that a legal arrangement such as marriage should not be legally defined?

I'm pretty sure he means that marriage should be seen as a legal matter between two consenting adults, no matter what gender, but I could be wrong and don't want to put words in his mouth. I don't have a problem with anyones church deciding who should and shouldn't be allowed to wed there, I do take issue with the government and other people deciding that two adults can not be legally wed.

60/20 liberal. No shock..

By the way, it would have sucked if the government told me that I couldn't marry my wife because she is Catholic and I am not. We went against her church and got legally married anyway, though they frown upon my non-Catholic self being married to a Catholic. Because really, that is how her church defines marriage and doesn't effect how we share property, raise family or have sex.

We can't say that marriage has always been between men and women. Some Native American tribes allowed same sex marriages long before we came and thinned them out. A few modern tribes recognize same-sex marriages still... It is really a church thing... and the Christian church did *not* invent marriage.

Marriage should be at least a legal (and spiritual if you want to enhance the event) contract between two consenting and committed adults. If they are of the same sex,.....so what? This has to be one of the biggest non-issues I've ever heard of in my life. All that money and all that legislative time....just wasted. <_<

I think the issue of gay marriage should be left up to each state. It doesnt really have a detrimental effect on the nation either way. Leave it up to the state, via the 10th Amendment.

As for the issue at hand, The kid has a right to say what he wants. I dont agree with kicking him off of the team. I understand Mack not wanting that statement reflecting the team, but he has a right to free speech. If this were the business world, Id agree with the decision. The only way He should be dismissed is if he violated some signed agreement that states you can not do anything detrimental to the school or program. But then again, Mack has players breaking the law all the time. He should be punished yes, but just make the kid run some laps till he pukes or something. That or have him hunt with Cheney.

I think most teams have rules that involve conduct detrimental to the team. With the large number of African-American (or I can call them black player, since you have an issue with the phrase African-American) voicing statements such as the one he did would have an impact on team unity, something any coach would not want to deal with. Additionally with the implied violence in his statement, he broke federal law.
