Denver is a much better team now with Billups and McDyess in my opinion. I think this is pretty strategic on Detroits part. Iverson is in his last year of his 20.8 million dollar contract. Good move by the Pistons.

Gutsy move by the Pistons. I don't know if it will work for Detroit this season, but as ESPN pointed out, they could be $21-$22 million under the cap after this season since this is the last year of AI's contract. They didn't win it last year, so they make the change and take a chance on AI and see if it works. Whether it works or not, they are well positioned for this year's free-agent crop or, more importantly, the 2010 free agent class, which could include LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Ray Allen, Tyson Chandler, Manu Ginobili, Richard Jefferson, Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, and Michael Redd. How about grabbing Wade and Bosh? How would you like to have that kind of money in that candy store?

Quote from ESPN's website:

Today Joe Dumars has parlayed a 32-year-old point guard into a rental of Allen Iverson and the bedrock players of the Pistons' long-term future.
