While flipping between the Georgia Tech/FSU and Georgia/Florida games, I stumbled upon the UNT game Saturday on CSS here in Atlanta. Through strategic use of DVR I was able to watch most of the 1st quarter and 2nd half of your game and by the end, I wasn't even flipping back to the others!

Congratulations on a great win. I believe you can't really measure a team's heart until you see them at the end of a close game and the Mean Green have plenty of heart to spare. Good luck the rest of the season and I look forward to watching this team in Denton next Fall.

That was a crazy fun game to watch... This is the first real "game" we have seen in a year. What a finish!

If this was a Vito quote I'd be pissed. Why does he always have to be so mean to the green?

So...I missed the news. You have decided on the Mean Green as your adopted North Texas team?

Glad to have you, and will happily provide you a beer at next year's tail gate (if you can stand my beer of choice, Miller Lite).

After watching that game I have no doubt the Mean Green will have my support next year. I think they have a bright future.

On another note, there is a thread on my team's message board that is talking about recruiting in Texas and the pro/cons for moving up to FBS...North Texas has a couple mentions on the second page. If anyone is interested in chiming in, here's a link to the thread. I'm sure they would love your input!

And Miller Lite would be great!

I don't report facts. I report opinions. IMHO, this year home games have been dreadful, the road games I attended have been equally bad. I keep buying the PPV games and driving to Texas to see my team...

Isn't there an NCAA moratorium on moving up in division right now? I know a school can't go from D2 to D1, but does it include FCS to FBS?

I'm not 100% sure what the current rules are but I believe there is a 3 year process set up to be considered for a move up. We launched a feasability study just under a year ago and I know that's the first step mandated by the NCAA. I don't think they will recommend a move up for us.

GSU,

Wasn't Georgia State trying to make a move up? I think it would be ultra hard since they are in Atlanta and GT is already there but i thought they were trying to make a big move up pretty soon.

Georgia State is creating a football program, starting at 1-AA.

They're an urban campus that's right in the shadow of Georgia Tech, and they haven't sponsored football until recently deciding to start in 2010.

To give Texas oriented analogies... Georgia State is almost identical in every way to UT-Arlington.

Georgia Southern is very similar, in terms of potential local support and no nearby rival colleges or pro teams to steal attention, to UTEP.

I'll agree with everything you said there. Georgia State is planning to play their games in the Georgia Dome to start out (will be mostly empty) and they just purchased a large chunk of land to build a practice facility. There isn't a whole lot of room to grow downtown but Georgia State is building more dorms and trying to become more of a destination campus rather than being the mostly "commuter" school they've been in the past. I look forward to them starting up football as it's always good to have more geographic rivals.

The Navy game was a game for the ages, all except the loss. NCAA records were broken that game by the teams and Gio, that will be tough to break.

For sure! I took my 5yr old nephew to the game (his first ever). He's scared of loud noises, but by the time this one was over, boomer wasn't even phasing him!
