For the Nth time... the student fee is all that is needed to break ground on the stadium. It's been 10 days since the vote, and no capital campaign has officially started.

Bull! You really think the BOR is going to let this thing go up based soley on the student vote, and not know how the other half is going to be paid? The student fee can only be used for half of the stadium, right? At 60 mil, that leaves 30 mil. It is not going up until they know how that is going to be paid. And nautique is right, donors are not lining up as you say, and I recall that you put that you put something to the effect that they would on your flyer. The plans and engineering studies will eat up that 6 mil that you think is there. I have heard the same thing from a couple of sources that the athletic department is in a tough spot right now financially. You know, when Dr. Bataille announces the dates for the stadium, then I will believe it. Sorry, it is not up to just you and RV.

Let's see, we have a representative from SGA that introduced the legislation that created the student fee to fund athletics and who has worked closely with the athletic department stating the stadium can break ground once approval form the BOR and State Legislature is received which should be rather quickly. Or we have you posting and stating that "natique" is right or stating you've heard from a "couple of sources" that the AD is in a tough spot right now financially. Hmm, doesn't appear to be a tough decision on who to believe.

But she wouldn't know anyway since she is not a part of SGA. Again, hope what I hear and post is one big lie, that would be great. Pompous and arrogant because I've grown tired of your constant negativety about all things North Texas? I never claimed right or wrong, just claimed that I choose to believe someone involved witht he university over someone with "sources."

Please see my previous post on the nature of the capital campaign.

I know thanks, but my point is the quietness of the ADM and BOR make me a little nervous. As for the rest of my post, I was just checking to see if Lifer was awake, and he is. By the way, good post on the capital campaign. (See Lifer, I can be positive)

      Air Force Serious Target For AAC

      I doubt the PAC wants Air Force if they want to rebuild into a power conference. The service academies can be great G5 programs but there's virtually no way they ever develop into a true contender. I do agree that the PAC does not have all the leverage until they get the 2 more needed to be a conference. If Memphis and Tulane have said no as is reported, it leaves us in a decent spot. For those thinking the AAC can build stronger with Memphis and Tulane, those 2 will leave for the ACC or Big12 the second they can and we won't be invited. You don't rebuild with programs looking to leave. Washington St and Oregon St know they're not getting a Big 12, ACC, or Big 10 invite as do the MWC teams. The new PAC figures to be more stable moving forward than the AAC.

      Since 1995, when we moved up to FBS/ I-A, we are playing our 30th season. So far, we have had 6 seasons with a winning record. That’s 20% success. It hasn’t mattered what stadium we have played in, what conference we have played in, what coach we have, what AD/President we have, or what our funding has been. So the questions are what continue to be the roadblocks. Well, now the portal and NIL represent canyon-esque problems. So does the reputation of the entire program with TX HS coaches and parents…as well as the apathy/loathing of the program from within the university and Denton. Im not sure what can fix any of this, especially the nil/portal. It’s just hard to see this getting better when the entirety of talented players and coaches leave in the offseason for other places that pay more.

      Knowing a few of the players/coaches and how competitive they’re I’m sure they’re not! In the region last night Baylor at home tied Texas St. Texas A&M lost 6-0 to UConn. Soccer is very unpredictable, the one sport where you can actually dominate and not get the result you want!

      Oregon State AD: Pac-12 will look to add new schools quickly

      Sure, everyone is going to have to deal with it. However we’re in a stronger position to recruit against our conference peers in both football and basketball as full-share members. Let’s say the PAC TV deal comes in at exactly the same amount as the current AAC deal, $8-10 million per year. We would be stupid to stay in the AAC receiving half-share if the new PAC offered us full-share from day 1. It may be a lateral move for Memphis, Tulane, and USF because they’re already in the top-tier of the AAC. But that doesn’t make it a lateral move for us if the PAC comes calling offering full-share media rights. Plus, let’s not forget those three schools are looking for the first opportunity to jump ship from the AAC to the ACC when the time comes.

      I'm not sure why adding Wazzu and OSU to this group will make it certain to have a significantly larger media deal than the MWC already has. Contracts are more about actual eyeballs (and subscribers) than markets these days. Yes, they will have more but enough more for an increase beyond what they have now - I'm not sure. Maybe yes, maybe no. In either case it won't be a lot. If I'm Memphis, Tulane, USF or any other AAC school, I want to see actual dollars being quoted by actual media sources and not Pac-x estimates!
