Unbelievable! Navy beats SMU 34-7 entirely with the run game... no passing attempts...pretty crazy.

it's not that crazy. One of my best friends plays for smu called me after the game and said he said the weather was freezing and really horrible for a passing team like smu. So running the ball every play is the reason navy won by the margin that they did. And for the record, i dislike smu as much as everyone else.

I am not sure how to define rivals but competitive and often-played games would be in my definition somewhere...so that probably leaves out SMU.

That said, there is only one college team in Texas that makes me smile happy every time their scoreboard shows them on the losing side.

SMU is my biggest rival, it is UNT's biggest rival and regional opponent.

There is so much bad blood between the two teams.... NT and SMU both signed on to a long term series.....

I want to be in whatever conference SMU is in, so we could get their ass each year as a conference win for us and a conference loss for them.

The only people who have ever sent us death threats for stuff we wrote on TY Sports are SMU fans. Not even the Navy rapist's family went that far.

They can say whatever they want about not caring... But when we talk, they froth at the mouth. If that's not rivalry, I don't know what is.

I watched some of that SMU-NAVY game yesterday. SMU was done before the game started, that game was played in a monsoon with 35-40 mph winds! It was crazy! Oh, and since Ft Worth is closer, is TCU a rival?

Why not? TCU is closer to Denton, and they are #12 in the country! But you and a couple of others, would rather get your panties in a wad over a 1-8 team? Think about how "small time" and down right stupid your logic is.

Nope not really. I have no personal ties to SMU. Just a bunch of friends who went there or have ties there. I am a NT alum and proud of it. I just think it is very ridiculous to think SMU and NT have this huge rivalry or have this blood hatred. Believe me....it does not exist on their side. I do not see a reason why it should exist on our side as of yet.

Most TCU fans would disagree with you. They like to believe they are above the Smuts of the world. As for NT, we are geographical rivals with both Smu, TCU, and UTA for that matter just because of playing some similar sports on the same level and compete within the same media area for the same recruits and same metroplex fanbase.

In my opinion as of right now it is not a rival. If NT consistently plays SMU in the future even after the signed series beginning in 2014 then I will call it more of a rival. If you talk to SMU people or go to their boards, they hardly every talk or care about NT. It is only people on this board that have this personal vendetta against SMU claiming that SMU is the sole reason of why we have been shafted in athletics which to me is complete BS. People here need to give it up on SMU.

I think that Green Mean should become a full time pony fan. He / She, what ever Green Mean is, does a great job of fluffing the ponies. Enjoy the boulivard of broken dreams June bug is bringing.

If they are not playing NT then I root for them to win as I do root for TCU. If I am a Pony fan then so be it. June Jones will turn SMU around. Mark it.

      Nobody is putting Utah State 25 spots in front of UConn, it's not a poll ranking. It's just computer metrics, really not that deep. That said, there's a great website that shows you how every poll voter voted. It includes graphs and even highlights extreme picks when they put a team 5 or more spots away from their poll ranking. Several journalists voted USU in the top 25 along with UConn and Dayton both unranked. Who knows what their actual gap would be if those journalists ranked to 40. Below is the website. Click on a team to see that team's week-by-week ranking via graph, then scroll down to see where each journalist ranked that team. You can click on that journalist's name to see how they voted. Evansville (269) Minnesota (155) McNeese (75) Oregon State (49) Northern Iowa (167) Utah State (14) High Point (190) MVSU (364...literally dead last) App State (199) Houston Christian (347) I know it really showed through this year, but the next step in this program is clearly upping the non-con scheduling...especially if half the AAC teams are gonna be dragging down our NET rankings. I know the SEC/ACC; Big 12/Big East challenges are TV/ESPN driven, but it'd be incredible if the AAC could have a similar set up with another solid basketball conference like the A-10, WCC, MVC, MWC...surely ESPNU would chip in a turkey sandwich for that, right? anyone know if that McNeese game is a home/home? if they can keep these levels, that'd be a great add on the regular.

Your world seems so easy and fun to those of us who have worked our entire lives and support an Alma Mater that has no ability to compete in the current landscape.
