"an arms race for facilities is for sure", it's almost sad how much goes into them. Although, I have to say 60 million dollars doesn't sound like that much to me for a new stadium with the cost of materials growing.

$60 million for a complete 32-35K seat college stadium is unheard of in today's prices. See what UT, Michigan State, and Penn State spent on endzone facilities alone; much, much more. TTU is adding I believe less than 5000 seats, some suites, and upgrades for nearly $30 mil. TCU the same with their endzone redo. What RV has in mind is very nice for the price.

UT's endzone = $176 million! http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2691190

"In addition to stadium seating that is 15 to 20 yards closer to the field, other amenities will include suite and club level sections, a spirit store, a new ticket concession area and a section for student seating. "

15 or 20 yards closer?....try 30 or 40 yards closer. <_<

Depends on where you sit. But yeah, 15-20 is about right sitting from the at the 50.

Funny side note- I know the writer of these articles, so I'll let her know she's doing ok.

For those who missed it, ASU's renovations are $170 mil. And they got a cool tax deal to cover the whole thing.

If you know what deal ASU got, send it to the City of Denton. Arlington is seriously rolling the dice in tax support to the $1.2 billion, Jerry's World. It's time for "little d" to step up and show some community support for this stadium. Tax incentive funding as support for a major entertainment venue is common, and it reaps great returns to the city and county in hotel occpancy tax and sales tax. It is the seed money that will ultimately prove a good investment for the taxpayers, and we are asking a pitance compared to what Arlington has already done.

Denton wouldn't help. You need to get the TX legislature to allow UNT to be its own tax district. Every bit of land they buy becomes part of that tax district. Then the tax revenue goes into a discretionary fund for the University instead of going to the City.
