Good God, it's getting worse.

Most of us had been exposed to Biden over the years and knew, regardless of whether his policies fit our preferences, that he was quite the douche.

Is it odd to call a woman a douchebag? Palin's comments seem to boil down to "anyone who is unlike us or our voters, and votes for anyone but us, isn't a real American".

Seriously? Did both Presidential candidates take a long, hard look and say, "Well, we've captured the votes of the fairly nice people of our respective parties...now what can we do to capture the votes of the douchebag extremists within our zones of preference? Aha, let's both get douchebags as VP candidates, you know, people who appeal to the lowest common denominator of each of our parties. That'll show 'em."

What in the wide world of sports is going on here?

The "attack dog" role is often played by the VP candidate. There is WAY too much emphasis on both Biden and Palin in this year's campaigns. It's a shame that the media "attacks" so much as well.

This campaign is the prime example of why we need to limit fundraising and fund totals for campaigns and limit the allowed "campaign" days. And, come to think of it...TERM LIMITS for all politicians at EVERY level would be VERY nice.

If ever the cry should come for real campaign finance (and overall campaign) reform, this campaign should be enough to get it going.

I give both sides an F- for the way they have handled their campaigns. GOOD GRIEF. Grade School kids know better!

Thank goodness the campaign will be over Nov. 5th.

Unless, of course, McCain ends up winning and then the Dems will have the election tied up in court for weeks/months. You can count on that happening should McCain win. "Book it, Danno"!!!!

I've always wondered when America would have a couple of "true American statemen" running for President, men or women who, regardless of party, handled themselves in a dignified manner during elections and while in office. Looks like it ended with John F Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.

I dunno...I like Obama, and even with some recent things he's done, still mostly like McCain. Very little "attacking" other than semantics.

But their VP candidates are retarded...

I'd like term limits and a ton of other controls in place as well, but it hasn't happened the whole time people have been demanding any of it...

"Vote Palin...world's hottest retard!"

Or nutsack...or whatever.

Don't mind me, I'm in an "I hate everybody" mode today, so everything is enhanced a bit more than usual.

That's basically what they did. Too bad the hit is worse for the GOP than it is for the Democratic party. I think mainly because of the particular choice. A whole host of far-right politicians are out there, and not all of them sound remotely as uneducated as Palin does. And even Biden is skating the line between acceptable/unacceptable himself.

The opposite of this?

Couric: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

Sarah Palin: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and, on our other side, the land-boundary that we have with Canada. It's funny that a comment like that was kinda made to … I don't know, you know … reporters.

Couric: Mocked?

Palin: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

Couric: Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign-policy credentials.

Palin: Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries, there in the state that I am the executive of. And there…

Couric: Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

Palin: We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there, they are right next to our state.

So what that she's had a few flubs? None of it is as nearly as bad as warning the country that if we elect her running mate that it will incite an international crisis here? She's only been at this job for 7 weeks. Joe "GaffeFantastic" Biden has been in the U.S. congress for 36 years and still doesn't know the difference between

You know, you libs need to ask yourself why it is that if Palin is such a dumbass then why is it that so much has been spent by your party attacking her? I mean, such a moron for VP certainly wouldn't garner any attention from the well informed voter who can clearly identify such a fraud and that her presence doesn't really matter. So why bother? If she's such a clueless dumbass then no one would be paying any attention to her, right? Wrong. She lives her life as she feels a hard working professional and inteligent woman/wife/mother should and sticks to her convictions and identitifes with the working class of this country better than any of the other candidates this year and it's driving the left freaking nuts and I think it's funny as can be.!

Or this:

Q: Finally governor we've been trying to engage some local grade schoolers for the last few elections. We do a feature called ‘questions from the third grade.' Brandon Garcia wants to know, "What does the Vice President do?"

PALIN: Aw, that's something that Piper would ask me, as a second grader, also. That's a great question, Brandon, and a Vice President has a really great job, because not only are they there to support the President agenda, they're like a team member, the teammate to that President. But also, they're in charge of the United States Senate, so if they want to they can really get in there with the Senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom. And it's a great job and I look forward to having that job.

She doesn't even know what the role of VP is. It's to be ready to take over should something happen to the President and to break ties in the Senate. Officially, that's it. Of course the VP provides advice to the President, but their role is not to set the legislative agenda of the Senate. I think the only reason people are even talking about Palin is that some people are affraid if she and McCain are elected, she will eventually become President. I think the polls I have seen reported on the NBC and ABC news have shown that more than half of Americans believe she is not qualified to be President. As to spending so much money to attack her, I have not seen adds attacking her. I've seen ton of adds taking McCain by Obama/approved by Obama, but none attacking Palin. I hardly think having the RNC spend $150K+ on her clothes or having the state of Alaska foot the bill for her childrens travel is something the common man can relate to.

You guys might want to look at it all in a partisan fashion, but really, I just think they are both pretty out in left field (or right field, if you prefer).

It's shit like this that makes other countries look at us and go "uuhhhhh...."

As far as the "What does the VP do?" issue...I think Palin is really in over her head and has a lot of catching up to do, but if they were to win, she'd have sufficient time to at least appear more capable.

They both still sound like idiots, though.

I hate that the electoral process has turned John McCain into such a puss. He was (and still is, to some extent) one of my favorite politicians, and I've watched his slow descent into a partisan cheerleader. I thought he was a lot smarter and ballsier than that.

She was answering a third grader for goodness sakes, so this must be kept in mind.

Biden's a moron that hasn't improved even after spending many years in Congress. Palin, as they would say in sports, has more upside.

Yes, and even third graders were able to figure out that she has no f'n idea what she's doing.

Palin is a lot like a parrot. Both can be taught to repeat words and phrases, but neither has the slightest clue what they are actually saying.

And had she answered the question in technical terms to the third graders she would have been raked over the coals for not understanding her audience and how to relate on various levels. And had she not looked the part with the clothes factor she would have been referred to as white trash that doesn't know how to look executively.

I mean it goes on and on and on. Meanwhile,

FF Rick, give it up...you are fighting a losing battle with folks who refuse to see the real story/facts. People on the left will believe the way they are told to believe by party faithful without doing any real study or without placing any real analysis together. It "all hat and no cattle" with these folks. Most have such a hatred for President Bush that it clouds every aspect of thought and reasonableness. In the face of facts they trudge right on with their delusions about "their guy" and his "experience" and his "judgement". It's CAMALOT ALL OVER AGAIN with these folks.

Now, that being said...do we have some folks on the right doing the same thing...you bet we do. And, they too, need to stop and take a breath and think very hard about why they support who they support and why they think the "other guy" is bad for America.

You simply cannot have a thoughtful conversation with folks on the left because every answer will be some "quote" about Bush being the devil in street clothes or Palin being "dumb", etc., etc. Just yesterday I was in such a discussion and asked my left leaning co-worker to name on time that Obama has been tested in any real sense of the word...in any possible critical situation...guess what the answer was..."WELL McCAIN CERTAINLY HASN'T BEEN TESTED EITHER"! Great thoughtful answer wouldn't you say? I also asked why they thought Obama voted "present" so many times instead of making a decision....Answer: "he thought that was the best way to vote"! Another dandy from the mouth of my liberal friend.

So, I asked, OK, given all that why are you voting for Obama? Answer: "I don't like Bush and Obama will change things". Man, with thoughtful and deep thinking like that, I can understand completely why folks are wanting Obama.

FFRick...stop, you will not get thorugh to these folks....they have, however, greatly helped me to know exactly why I have already cast my vote for JOHN McCAIN.

One way or the other this will all be over Nov. 5th (unless McCain wins and then the Dems will sue and the final vote will be tied up in the courts for who knows how long...sore losers they always seem to be). I am sure we will all be glad that at least it is OVER! The campaign that is....

What if you were 95% sure you were going to vote for McCain, but Palin is giving you that 5% of pause? I've seen Palin defended from the "media crusade" against her, but no one has told me why she is anything more than a stunt and a distraction. I'm all ears.

You vote for President 1st....with the VP's neither one is what I would actually want running the country, but in reality, how often has a VP turned into a President before actually running for the top spot in the first place? Sure, in my lifetime I got LBJ and Gerald Ford. My guess is that most folks on this board could not name the past 10 VP's without looking it up in some reference book or on-line?

Base your vote on the person you want as President FIRST and FORMOST...they call this the Presidential election for a reason! If you are 100% tied in your choice for Pres., then decide whom you like for VP. BUT, only if you are undecided, really undecided, on your choice for the top spot and feel they are each equally suited for the job.

That's my take on it....you have to decide for yourself. Just vote after thoughtful and rational consideration...either guy...but know WHY you voted for who you did and be able to communicate why you did!

Alright, let's end this 'Palin is qualified' debate. She's not.

She is the governor of Alaska and has only held that position for the last two years.

At 663,000 square miles, Alaska is larger than the combined area of the 23 smallest U.S. States and Districts: Washington, D.C., Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maryland, West Virginia, South Carolina, Maine, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, North Carolina.

The total population of this huge state (680,000) is about one third of Tarrant County, Texas. The second largest city in Alaska, Fairbanks, is half the size of Denton.

The oil and gas industry dominates the Alaskan economy, with more than 80% of the state's revenues derived from petroleum extraction.

Oil prices had risen drastically over the past few years and Alaska has been a huge beneficiary of this rise.

A plate of spaghetti could have been governor and the economy would have prospered. None of it is due to Sarah Palin.

Adler...how does the kool-Aid taste? I might ask you, Sir, what experience qualifies Mr. Obama for the top spot on the Dem ticket? What, less than 2 years in the Senate and most voting present because he couldn't make a decision?

I think it is time to get past the "qualification" discussion...fact is Palin is on the ticket for the Republicans and Obama is on the ticket for the Democrats. That's a fact...and if the only thing you can get excited about on either ticket is the experience level of a VP (the VP for gosh sake's) for the Republicans or the experience level of the presidential candidate on the Democratic side then you probaly should not be voting yet as you need to do a bit more research and bit more study.

Not saying that is you at all, Adler, just trying to get folks to think of real solid issues....in fact, is anyone really qualified...anyone...for this job BEFORE they step into the Oval Office? Was Kennedy, was Reagan, was Truman, was Clinton, was Daddy or son Bush, was Carter, was anyone? How can they be. You have to hope and pray that they choose qualifed and experienced Cabinet members and advisors with unique and specific qualifications in areas of importance and we go from there with the best decisions possible at the time they are made.

Good Gosh, folks...get off this issue...there are so many more important issues to be decided.

Note Green Mean's comments and you will clearly see why you cannot have a civil thoughtful conversation with the liberal folks these days....yes, a generalization, of course, but seems to be more "general" than generalization these days. How do any of these folks get elected...Murtha, Frank, Polesi, etc., etc.? They get elected because more folks in their voting districts vote for them than the other guy running. Simple, isn't it? Here we have someone who has probably never set foot in the state of Alaska calling everyone there who voted for Palin for gov. stupid! Great! Very "adult" and so very intelligent a comment. Come on, folks...ENOUGH!

AGAIN...you VOTE FOR PRESIDENT FIRST!!!!! Cheney is not running...nor is Bush in case you haven't noticed. GEEEEEZZZZZZ...get over it and start thinking about the future...stop the irrational hatred for the last guys in office and get on with some thoughtful and intelligent thinking about the next PRESIDENT!

I am not ewber liberal. I am not a democrat nor a replublic because both parties are good and they both suck. However I know an idiot when I see one. Palin in my opinion is an idiot. Biden is not too far behind her but when push comes to shove I think I would go with Biden. However yes I am a man and I do think from down there just like most people in this world and will say that she is a MILF and damn good looking for her age. Oh and yes I have set foot in Alaska.

Yes, Carter was governor of Georgia,

Reagan, who you adore, was governor of California,

Clinton was governor of Arkansas......

Of which I'd beg for anyone of them to come back before I'd vote for Karl Obama.

I'll say it again, if you want a socialist nation move your ass to France.
